Somethin' Else
Eddie Cochran Lyrics

A-look-a-there
Here she comes
Here comes that girl again
Wanted to date her since I don't know when
But she don't notice me when I pass
She goes with older guys from out of my class
But that can't stop me from a-thinkin' to myself
She's sure fine lookin' man
She's somethin' else

Hey look-a there
Across the street
There's a car made just for me
To own that car would be a luxury
But right now I can't afford the gas
A brand new convertible is out of my class
But that can't stop me from a-thinkin' to myself
That car's fine lookin' man
It's somethin' else

Hey look-a here
Just wait and see
Workin' hard and savin' my dough
I'll buy that car that I've be wanting so
Get me that girl and we'll go ridin' around
We'll look real sharp with the white top down
I'll keep right on and dreamin' and a-thinkin' to myself
When it all comes true, man
Wow, that's somethin' else!

Look-a here
What's all this?
Never thought I'd do this before
But here I am a-knockin' on her door
My car's out front and it's all mine
Just a '41 Ford, not a '59
I got that girl and I'm a-thinkin' to myself
She's sure fine lookin' man
Wow, she's somethin' else!

Can't afford the Gas!

My feelings precisely back in my permanently skint teenage 1950s. Most kids then could relate to that. In my first job me aged sixteen worked alongside one of the most lovely young women I ever saw. Come Christmas, she bought me an Eddie Cochran 45rpm EP.  Such kindness. Had an Eddie C tape CD in my cars ever since... Great days gone forever but the memories never fade.... 👍😉

The Triumph of the Thrill

This is the root of heavy Rock. Hard Rock, Punk, Grunge, Metal, etc., all begins here. That heavy, chugging, driving sound was unlike anything heard before. And one of the best Rock tunes too. Criminally underrated among his peers, Cochran has proven to be one of the most enduring from the Big Bang of Rock.

Dont compare real rock n roll to talentless drug addicts. Not the same.

Completely! You are so bang on with that analysis! The roots of then future rock can be traced back to Cochran.

You are so way away and some away...

@Roland Deschain Nope, not wrong. I don't listen much to the radio these days. My dad was DJ back in the early days of Rock and Roll. He exposed me to all kind of music. I've been into just about every genre of Rock and Pop you can imagine, including Punk. I am only 6 months younger than Henry Rollins (Black Flag). I got into Punk in 1982. I listened to the Ramones, The Clash, The Sex Pistols, The Dead Kennedys, and Black Flag to name a few. I also listened to proto punk bands like The MC5, The Stooges, and The New York Dolls. I've read books and magazines about Punk Rock and its history, some I still have from '82, so I know what I'm talking about. I'm sure Johnny Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten) would beg to differ with Handsome Dick Manitoba. But whatever dude, you're allowed to wallow in your ignorance and have your uneducated opinions. Signing off.

Two minutes of frantic bass, concise words, essential structure, power chords. This is the root of punk rock

Plz dont compare drug addict loser talentless punks to real talent rock n roll. This is blues n hillbilly, the chords change in a 12 bar blues...punks dont know how to play their instruments.
