Just Got To Be
The Black Keys Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning | Line by Line Meaning
And other sinful matters
You're gonna be misled
Left feared and tattered
I got to go because
Something's on my mind
And it wont get better
No matter how hard I try
Whoa, yeah
You just got to be
The best man for me
Evil hides in dark places
But now I find it
In familiar faces
I got to go because
Something's on my mind
And it wont get better
No matter how hard I try
Whoa, yeah
You just got to be
The best thing for me
The opening lines of the song "Just Got To Be" by The Black Keys sets the tone for the rest of the song, as it talks about sin and pride. The singer warns the listener that if they continue on the path of pride and other sinful matters, they will be misled, left feared and tattered. The next lines of the song indicate that the singer has something on his mind that is bothering him, and despite his best efforts, he cannot seem to shake it off. The chorus of the song is repetitive in nature, with the singer declaring that the person he is addressing must be the best man for him.
The second verse of the song talks about how evil can lurk in familiar faces and dark places, further emphasizing how the singer feels misled and betrayed. The chorus once again reiterates that the person must be the best thing for the singer, despite the struggles that come with being with them. The song ends with the singer once again stating that he needs to leave because of something on his mind.
Overall, the song touches on themes of sin, betrayal, and struggling with inner turmoil. The repetitive and simple structure of the song only emphasizes the intensity of the emotions being conveyed.

I never understand why people seem to hate the newer stuff (especially turn blue). I don't see why it's impossible to like both their newer music and their older music, because both have lots of great songs. I guess it's just the same kind of people who accuse bands of 'selling out' when they change their sound though

Turn blue is soo underrated, brothers, magic potion, and turn blue are my top 3 albums

@bubblegum bruxa What alternate universe do you live in? Do you know ANYTHING about the music industry and how bands are forced to please record companies or are you just that daft? Turn Blue was a complete pile of bile and their worst album by lots. Now they're back doing what made them famous.....Delta Kream is who they were before.
