Key to the Highway
Big Bill Broonzy Lyrics

I got the key to the highway, and I'm billed out and bound to go
I'm gonna leave here runnin', cause walkin' is most too slow

I'm goin' down on the border, now where I'm better known
Cause woman you don't do nothin', but drive a good man 'way from home

Now when the moon creeps over the mountain, I'll be on my way
Now I'm gonna walk this old highway, until the break of day

Come here, sweet mama, now and help me with this heavy load
I am due in West Texas, and I've got to get on the road

I'm goin' to West Texas, I'm goin' down behind the farm(?)
I'm gonna ax the good Lord what evil have I done

Learned this note for note including the harp. This is the base for my music career. Took me a year to nail it perfect, but was worth the investment. Taught me pretty much everything I knew until I discovered the Mickey Baker Jazz Chord book #1. THAT book made me a pro. I owe my entire career to Big Bill and Mickey. RIP, gentleman.

Really good quality for a song recorded in the 40s.

@TheWildhound it’s probably been touched up a bit

How they transfered, from an 78' shellac ? For me it sounds like a tape recording with high quality mastering. Unbelievable crispy and fresh sound with the taste of these long gone times. Digital or not, they had brilliant sound engineers.

Math? Music!

If you're sad, the blues somehow will raise you up, just like Big Bill and his boys do here. Many thanks
