Nattens sønner
Klovner i Kamp Lyrics

I Oslo bys kulisser kan du skimte nattens sшnner
De var en familie pе fire, en mor, en datter og to sшnner.
Men han ga ogsе damene sine - bank, uten е fortrekke en mine.
Han brukte avbitertang - nеr han krevde inn gjeld.

Samme hva du mеtte tro sе fikk det store konsekvenser.
Pass deg nе, pass deg nе.

Sеnn holdt det frem, men en dag hoppa mannen over
Kosen.

Pass deg nе. Ingen er der til е passe pе. Fшr du visste ordet av det, sa det sшte
Livet ha det, det е reise seg er tшft nеr den du elsker gеr I fra deg.
Pass deg nе, pass deg nе.

Hva hadde han I gjжre?
Е si at alt er slutt.

Men nе hviler du I fred, Jeg vet at englene skal passe pе sе ingenting
Skal skje deg. Hvil deg nе, hvil deg nе.
I Oslo bys kulisser kan du skimte nattens sшnner

This being one of the very few norwegian songs i actually like, and have had in the back of my mind for at least 15 years now, I figured I'd take a crack at explaining the song to those in the comments that don't understand the lyrics, but might want to. I could just translate the lyrics, but since it's a song heavily influenced by old school slang and references, a lot would have been lost in translation. Also, the lyrics could mean different things to different people, as many songs do.

Verse 1:
We're introduced to a family of 4. Mother, daughter and 2 sons. The eldest brother is the focus. He's of unknown age, but he deals in street drugs and owns a sealed gun he uses to demand respect and keep away wannabe heroes from his influence. He starts in low-risk crime but as time goes he grows more and more daring. The small stuff doesn't bring in the cash he wants so together with a partner he steals a Mercedes and breaks into a computer store, getting away with the loot. 1 robbery turns into many, he wanted more, but who knows what drove him, the money or the thrill. Next follows an escapade of crime and the 'good' life. His friends are tough, his enemies the cops. He routinely fucks women that are drawn to his money, and are described as 'thin with silicone and tanned faces'. He also beats these women without twitching an eye.
But for all the Kingpin qualities of his life, every night there is a 12 year old scrawny, bloody boy that haunts his dreams.

Chorus:
"Watch yourself, knew you wanted to be tough. There's a thing you don't sense, even in a life without consequence. Watch yourself, watch yourself"

Verse 2:
Now time is turned back, and we're introduced to the mother, a woman with many dreams.
She got the man she wanted, 2 sons and a daughter, and for many years the house was filled with laughter. Every day at 5pm, the husband would come home from work and hug his wife. This kept on, but one day the husband skipped the hug, smelled like cheap perfume, and the wife senses he's up to no good and confronts him. He lays the cards on the table, admits he's found another woman and wants a divorce. The wife is enraged, but through anger and tears fights to keep the children. She wants to keep them together, to love them and teach them of honesty. There are hard times ahead. Bills to pay, food to be bought, having to work extra hard to support her kids and make ends meet. The kids grow up, but without a father and an absent mother when they need someone to talk to. The mother realizes this, but instead of facing her troubles she runs away into bitterness and alcohol, worrying that everything she had sacrificed was in vain.

Chorus:
"Watch yourself, no one is there to look out. before you knew it, the sweet life had passed. Pulling yourself up is hard when the one you love leaves you. Watch yourself, watch yourself"

Verse 3:
The narrator tells you that life is a quest from the moment you are born. They know this from watching their older siblings grow up. It pays to catch them young if you're going to be a good brother. So before the little brother in the story turned 10, he was sure about his future. He wanted to grow up big and strong like his elder brother, where he found comfort in the absence of his father. But with bad grades in school he took a lot of flak from his mom, so he did like his big bro and ditched the school altogether. This happened around the time 501(the Levis brand of jeans) was popular, so lil'bro breaks into a store and sold what he got on the streets. He took pride in this and went to elder bro for praise, but as big brothers go, this just earned him ridicule and insults. "I'll prove to you I got the balls" lil'bro says. Being taunted by your elder siblings is harder than people think. So little man is in his room laying plans. The night of the first snowfall he sneaks out of their 4th floor apartment. What's he up to? He breaks open a car and unfortunately gets it going. 110 km/h, 130 km/h, it's going way to fast. There's a crash, an explosion of black. The snow is falling in droves like a punctuation, in the wreck lies the body of a 12 year old boy.

Chorus:
"Rest yourself, you were the one no one looked after. You wanted everyone to see you, now you're resting in peace. I know the angels will make sure nothing will happen to you. Rest yourself. Rest yourself."

It's a heavy, heavy song, with no real moral or message, but as an older brother myself, I could not imagine if this kid was my own brother. It's never explained who holds the narrative, but through deduction it's quite apparent it's the sister watching her family fall apart.
I hope this proves useful to those just digging the beat :)

here dude [Intro]
In Oslo city's scenery can glimpse the night's sons

[Verse 1]
They were a family of four, a mother, a daughter and two sons
The oldest selling beans, rocking speed and owned gunner
Admittedly it plumbed but had nevertheless effect
It gave respect, created fear and chased everyday heroes away
He began in a small way, so he became bolder and bolder
It beauti longer enough money In breeders
Then he put a plan with a Kumpan and together they stole one Merce
They crashed into a computer store and ran off with Stas
A crow was soon more, wanted more, the boy lost count
Who knows what drove him, it was clamping or tension?
His friends were hard, his enemies were the cops
Yes, the boy was suddenly grown up, the family prospered without
He got himself oily apartment
Oh fuck ladies were routine
The thin silicone and mass tanning In the face
Who want clothes
But he also gave their ladies - bank, without batting an eyelid
For he was cold and heartless, never nervous
Hard applications, seriously unscrupulous
He used bol to be massively, took sun and used themselves
He used nippers - when he demanded into debt
He stood if some slo'n, he reigned from the throne
For he was the king in the environment and satisfied with the situation
But there was something in his dreams at night that plaga'n -
It was a twelve year old flimsy pale and bloody boy jaga'n

[Chorus]
Watch it
Veit you would only be raw
You would live without borders
But there is one thing you heedless
Whatever you might think so given the serious consequences
Watch it, watch now

[Verse 2]
She had many dreams, got the man she loved, two sons and a daughter
For many years the house was filled with laughter
Kl. 5 after work when the man came home
He put his hands around his wife and gave her a hug
How kept it up, but one day the mare man of coziness
He Stinka cheap perfume and smell owls in the moss
Then he put the cards on the table and explained the situation
He had met another woman and wanted a divorce from wife
She was devastated, destroyed, desp and pissed
But she fought like mad, to get custody of her children
Would keep them unite and give the kids love
Give them confidence when they grew up and teach them about honesty
It was a tough time with bills and food that would be purchased
She worked extra in the evenings to make ends meet
And the kids they grew up and had to settle with
His mother was never there when they needed someone to talk to
She realized it and fled Into disappointment and bitterness
Now she drank - to hide away their bad conscience
Scare away the sensation of slowly suffocating
In the thought that everything she had sacrificed was in vain

[Chorus]
Watch it
No one is there to look after
Before you knew it,
Said the sweet life goodbye
The travel itself is tough when you love goes away from you
Watch it, watch now

[Verse 3]
It is an eternal quest of the day you are born
I have older siblings sjæl so I know how it feels
Early should you be snagged about you good brother will be
So before the little brother to Stories we tell turned ten
He was sure in his answer
He wanted to be like his brother was, big and hard
There he found consolation in his lack of a father
But with bad grades he got lots of stress from her mother
So he did as his brother, and gave F Throughout school
This happened at the time when 501 was popular
He broke into In a parlor and sold what he had stjælt
Would tell his brother he was so proud and would boast
But his brother just laughed crude of him and cold he a wimp
"I'll prove that I can dry, that I regrettably"
But his brother said; "You dare not do shit, you just lying"
I promise you a big brother who insults you is worse than you think
So now he lay in his room and made plans
The snow came the night the boy took action
He sneaked out on the balcony and climbed quickly down from the fourth
What he had in ferment? He walked over to a cart
Got up lock, connect motorn and got the start on the unfortunately
One hundred and twenty, a hundred and thirty, is suddenly too fast
Then comes a bang, it explodes in black
Snow falls and falls as if to say that everything is final
In the wreck lies the body of a 12 year old boy

[Chorus]
Rest now, you were the one that no one looked after
You would all'd see you
But now you rest in peace
I know that the angels will take care so nothing will happen to you
Rest now, rest now
