Hates them with a passion.
She hates writing them, thinking about writing them and then reading what she’s written. For her, it is a serious bummer. She cannot escape the nagging thought that bios are nothing more than an inflated description of places she’s sung, music she’s recorded and accolades she’s garnered.
Her final analysis of all of it boils down to, “So what? Who cares? What does any of this have to do with the music I compose and sing today? Or the one-woman shows I write? The workshops I conduct?”
She believes that when she is compared to other singers, it is unfair to her and those to whom she is compared, contributing no additional understanding of Rene’s music, history, evolution, vision - or anyone else’s.
So, at this point, Rene would like to invite you to relax, enjoy her music and/or read what she’s written about herself on her website - www.renemarie.com - and draw your own conclusion. She is keenly aware that such a stark, pared-down approach is highly unusual and may be off-putting, but anything else would be a marketing ploy - which Rene also detests.
If you have gotten this far and are still interested in reading more, you may visit her website www.renemarie.com
She thanks you sincerely.

Shelter In Your Arms
René Marie
Ever since I can remember, I have been the one that’s strong;
I thought it was my duty to fix whatever was wrong.
I was Don Quixote in a dress, jousting windmills I couldn’t see.
In the midst of a raging battle, you stood and fought beside me.
And I never knew that I was hungry till your love filled me up,
And I never knew I was dying of thirst till I drank from your cup.
Let them all call me weak, if this is what weakness is.
Gonna take shelter in your arms, and dry my tears.
When my friends need comfort or advice, they always come to me,
And I can patch them up and send them on their way, happy and worry-free.
And it’s strange nobody noticed that I needed comfort, too.
I didn’t know what comfort was till I met you.
Now I’m feasting on a banquet where there were merely crumbs,
And I can let my guard down whenever danger comes.
Let them all call me weak, if this is how weakness acts.
I’m gonna take shelter in your arms, and relax.
No more fighting, I’ve put my weapons down;
Don’t mind crying, as long as you are around.
Now I’m feasting on a banquet where there were merely crumbs,
And I can let my guard down whenever danger comes.
Let them all call me weak, if weakness this must be;
I’ve got a man who’s strong and warm and keeps me safe from harm.
Gonna take shelter in your arms, and be free.
