In 1984, Plant formed a short-lived all-star retro rock group with musicians Jimmy Page (also of Led Zeppelin), Jeff Beck, and Phil Collins called The Honeydrippers. The band had a Top Ten hit with their song "Sea of Love", a remake of the Phil Phillips' chestnut. Plant's also notably performed with Page in the outfit Page & Plant.
Plant's love of the music of Morocco led him to a new collaboration called Robert Plant and the Strange Sensation. The band's releases met with critical acclaim and numerous Grammy nominations. They completed a notable 2006 tour of Europe in September.
In 2007, Plant began recording and performing with American bluegrass star Alison Krauss. A duet album, Raising Sand, was released on 23 October 2007 on Rounder Records. The album, recorded in Nashville and Los Angeles and produced by T-Bone Burnett, met with enormous critical and commercial success. Tours have reached devoted audiences in multiple cities.
The year of 2010 proves to be yet another successful year for the lemon squeezer. During the summer, Plant will be reuniting with his old, Pre-Zep group, The Band Of Joy, for a tour of the southern and mid continental tour of the US.
In 2012 Robert Plant starts another band project going by the name Sensational Space Shifters releasing the live album Robert Plant Presents: Sensational Space Shifters. Along with Plant himself the band consists of Liam "Skin" Tyson, Justin Adams, Billy Fuller and John Baggot along with Dave Smith, Juldeh Camara and Patty Griffin.
Big Log

Its passion will rise as the cities fly by
And the tail lights dissolve in the coming of night
And the questions and thousands take flight
My love is miles in awaiting
The eyes that just stare and the glance at the clock
In the secret that burns and the pain that won't stop
And it's fueled with the years
Leading me on (leading me on)
Leading me down the road
Driving me on (driving me on)
Driving me down the road
My love is exceeding the limit
Red eyed and fevered with the hum of the miles
Distance and longing, my thoughts do collide
Should I rest for a while at the side?
Your love is cradled in knowing
Eyes in the mirror still expecting their prey
Sensing too well when the journey is done
There is no turning back, no
There is no turning back on the run
My love is in the league
With the freeway
Oh, with the freeway
And the coming of the night time
My love
My love is in the league with the freeway
Robert Plant's song "Big Log" was released in 1983 as part of his second solo album, "The Principle of Moments." The lyrics seem to talk about a love affair that takes place during a long road trip. The first verse captures the excitement of the journey, where the lovers' passion rises as the cities fly by and the night comes. The second verse, however, focuses on the emotional exhaustion that such a long trip brings, where one of the lovers is waiting, tired, and in pain, while the other one "leads" and "drives" them down the road.
As the song progresses, it becomes clear that the lovers are driving separate cars, and they can only communicate by looking at each other through the rearview mirror. This is an interesting metaphor for the distance that has grown between them, and the fact that they are racing towards different destinations.
The chorus, where the phrase "my love is in league with the freeway" is repeated, is both beautiful and mysterious. It's unclear whether the freeway is a metaphor for freedom or a hindrance, but it's clear that the singer is in love with the road and the adventure it brings.
Overall, "Big Log" is a beautiful song that captures the feeling of being on the road and the emotional toll that comes with it. As always, Robert Plant's voice adds a level of ethereal mystery to the lyrics, leaving a powerful impression on the listener.
