I And Love And You
The Avett Brothers Lyrics

Load the car and write the note
Grab your bag and grab your coat
Tell the ones that need to know
We are headed north

One foot in and one foot back
But it don't pay to live like that
So I cut the ties and I jumped the tracks
For never to return

Ah Brooklyn, Brooklyn take me in
Are you aware the shape I'm in?
My hands they shake, my head it spins
Ah Brooklyn, Brooklyn take me in

When at first I learned to speak
I used all my words to fight
With him and her and you and me
Ah, but it's just a waste of time
Yeah, it's such a waste of time

That woman she's got eyes that shine
Like a pair of stolen polished dimes
She asked to dance, I said it's fine
I'll see you in the morning time
Ah Brooklyn, Brooklyn take me in
Are you aware the shape I'm in?
My hands they shake, my head it spins
Ah Brooklyn, Brooklyn take me in

Three words that became hard to say
I and love and you
What you were then I am today
Look at the things I do

Ah Brooklyn, Brooklyn take me in
Are you aware the shape I'm in?
My hands they shake, my head it spins
Ah Brooklyn, Brooklyn take me in

Brooklyn, Brooklyn take me in
Are you aware the shape I'm in?
Oh, my hands they shake, my head it spins (spins)
Ah Brooklyn, Brooklyn take me in

Dumbed down and numbed by time and age
Your dreams that catch the world the cage
The highway sets the traveler's stage
All exits look the same

Three words that became hard to say
I and love and you
I and love and you
I and love and you

I live near these guys and the first time I ever seen them was right in their hometown and on top of that it was news years so I knew it was gonna be a good show but holy fuck. They blew my mind. every song sounded exactly like their albums and they played a few extra songs due to everyone begging for an encore. they gave a speech about the hometown and how much it meant to them. then they played one last song and dropped what seemed like a million balloons from the rafters. needless to say that show meant a lot to me. and so does this band..for many reasons. I never get sick of this song and every song.

I grew up in North Carolina and dated their cousin. I miss Margo so much I played that tape out. But I like the new direction they went.

I went to college in NC and love it there. I just found these guys about a year ago. They blow me away with lyrics and real music.

Danny Capps, I too have been listening to this band for years and years. I went to high school with Joe Kwon. Great band. Fun fact Danny, I am the guy that’s responsible for the millions of balloons that fall at every one of their New Years concerts. We have been have been doing it for years. They rotate between Raleigh, Greensboro, Charlotte and they have done Asheville before. Look us up. Carolinaballoons.com
