Under the Milky Way
by The Church

Sometimes when this place gets kind of empty
Sound of their breath fades with the light
I think about the loveless fascination
Under the Milky Way tonight

Lower the curtain down on Memphis
Lower the curtain down all right
I got no time for private consultation
Under the Milky Way tonight

Wish I knew what you were looking for
Might have known what you would find

And it's something quite peculiar
Something shimmering and white
Leads you here despite your destination
Under the Milky Way tonight

Wish I knew what you were looking for
Might have known what you would find
Wish I knew what you were looking for
Might have known what you would find

And it's something quite peculiar
Something shimmering and white
Leads you here despite your destination
Under the Milky Way tonight

Wish I knew what you were looking for
Might have known what you would find
Wish I knew what you were looking for
Might have known what you would find

Under the Milky Way tonight
Under the Milky Way tonight
Under the Milky Way tonight

Jesus Is Lord

This is an 80's gem of a song. It's so underrated.

You are right with your comment and RIGHT about Your name:)

I wouldn't really call it underrated. If you were in the time and place, it was rather a massive hit in the genre. Nonetheless, fantastic, timeless track.

I'm 19, and I absolutely adore the 80s. There's something about this era of music that has me hooked. However, I don't think it's fair to bash all modern music. There's good stuff, you just gotta dig for it. But, even with all the good songs today, I still find myself always coming back to the 80s. Such a good fucking song. I was actually brought to tears at 1:11.

As a ‘88 HS grad and music maker, this song was very important. To be reminded HOW people made music then. There was zero digital. It was all tape. One take , then the next, then the next. Analog equipment was at its height. Time was spent trying to control the character of diodes and tubes and how they reacted to the room acoustics.
You’re right. There is some AMAZING stuff coming out today from some brilliant young minds. It’s just different.
This and other songs were lightning strikes.

@Max Mueller Try listening to Henry Rollins' 2 hour radio show on KCRW at 8PM PST every Sunday night- he's got a show that will open your ears to so many genres and eras of music. KCRW.org also has archived shows that you can listen to whenever you want. It's the perfect solution for people that appreciate music but find that services like Pandora and Spotify are just algorithmic and "canned" products.

As a child of the 80's, I can say that, you'd probably like Echo and the Bunnymen, Julian Cope, The Cure, Peter Murphy , ...awe heck, just about any 80s alternative.
