The Bleeding Heart Show
by The New Pornographers

I leapt across three or four beds into your arms
Where I had hidden myself somewhere in your charm
Our golden handshake has been smashed into this shape
It's taken magic to a primitive new place
Watch them run
Although it's
The minimum
Heroic

We hunched together in one chair out on the deck
In snow that froze and fell down on the modern set
It looked as if I picked your name out of a hat
Next thing you know you are asleep in someone's lap
Watch them run
Although it's
The minimum
Heroic

We quit the room
Quit so our thoughts could rest
Rest them, I'll never move
That's when we grab a hold
Of whatever it is we fell into

Lousy with your content
With what the majestic cannot find
In business of your lives
The perception, it is wrong, mile after mile
The phantom taste drinking wine from your heels

We have arrived too late to play
The bleeding heart show
We have arrived too late to play
The bleeding heart show
We have arrived too late to play
The bleeding heart show
We have arrived too late to play
The bleeding heart show
We have arrived too late to play
The bleeding heart show
We have arrived
The bleeding heart

I've found it. My internet white whale. 5 years ago, I heard this song on a university of phoenix commercial, and tonight I finally found it.

There really is no feeling like FINALLY tracking down a song you only know vague descriptors about & can't find.

Henry Nagle

Such a great song. This whole album is one of my very favorites

+PINGPONGROCKSBRAH Only jokes by me. Still, that commercial IS the first result on Youtube when you search 'University of Phoenix commercial', so I hope for your sake you couldn't remember what the ad was for either.

I kinda wish I hadn't looked it up. (The ad.) Or at least not watched it. Now when listening to this pretty amazing song I'm thinking about a shitty "inspiring" commercial. Barf.

PINGPONGROCKSBRAH

@sunsofguns I had no idea it was by the new pornographers

+PINGPONGROCKSBRAH Ha! Noob. You could've googled "New Pornographers song University of Phoenix commercial" 5 friggin years ago and learned its name.

I can't believe Twin Cinema never seems to make any top 50 album lists for the 2000's.

Daniel Leyton

It has! Pitchfork's, for one.

The propulsive build-up of the rhythm section after 2:30, a cathartic shift into high gear from all that has built up to it - the rolling harmony vocals just preceding it not least - is one of this incredible band's most joyously transcendent moments, which is saying something.

Not Another

just to say I love this comment.

Seeing them for the first time, soon.
