The album was a commercial smash, getting platinum certified by the RIAA. The aforementioned single "If You Could Only See" reached #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and picked up major airplay internationally as well, especially in Canada. The group also had success with other singles "Open Up Your Eyes" and "Casual Affair", both of them top 10 hits on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart.
Tonic spent much of the next two years touring, adding to its reputation as a relentlessly gigging band. In addition to extensive touring Tonic produced other work, including songs for feature film soundtracks such as Scream 2 and The X-Files. After self-producing their 1999 album Sugar, they earned two Grammy nominations for their 2002 album Head on Straight. The band then went on hiatus beginning in 2004 while its members pursued solo work and other musical endeavors.
Tonic became active again in late 2008, embarking on a tour and releasing a greatest hits compilation. These efforts set the stage for their self-titled fourth studio album, which was released in 2010. Tonic continues to actively tour.

If You Could Only See
Tonic Lyrics
If you could only see the way she loves me
Then maybe you would understand
Why I feel this way about our love
And what I must do
If you could only see how blue her eyes can be when she says
When she says she loves me
Well you got your reasons
And you got your lies
And you got your manipulations
They cut me down to size
Sayin' you love but you don't
You give your love but you won't
If you could only see the way she loves me
Then maybe you would understand
Why I feel this way about our love
And what I must do
If you could only see how blue her eyes can be when she says
When she says she loves me
Seems the road less traveled
Show's happiness unraveled
And you got to take a little dirt
To keep what you love
That's what you gotta do
Sayin' you love but you don't
You give your love but you won't
Stretching out your arms for something that's just not there
You're sayin' you love where you stand
Give your heart when you can
If you could only see the way she loves me
Then maybe you would understand
Why I feel this way about our love
And what I must do
If you could only see how blue her eyes can be when she says
When she says she loves me
You're sayin' you love but you don't
You give your love but you won't
(But she won't)
You're sayin' you love where you stand
Give your heart when you can
If you could only see the way she loves me
Then maybe you would understand
Why I feel this way about our love
And what I must do
If you could only see how blue her eyes can be when she says
When she says she loves me

In before 2020!
No but seriously. I still remember the morning, don't remember the exact day but it was December of '97, waking up miserable and heading to work at 3:30AM, getting out to my car and hearing this song on the radio and just being reminded that life was not so bad. Thanks Tonic, I needed it.

it was a good year for some. Had my girl Nadine then. We met at the gym and we were together for over 2 years. I left her & moved to Florida.

I feel a bit of sadness at times watching music videos of 1990's hit songs. That decade meant so much to me. Yes, every decade had its BS, but the 1990's for the most part was so awesome. The music, movies, TV shows, video games, sports moments, the fashion...I miss it all. The fact that those were my teen years make me love the 1990's even more. Songs like this were the soundtrack to the most carefree times of my life. I love my life now, but I'll never have as much fun as I did back then.

Hell ya man. Plus the 90s just seemed easier all around. The times were different, slower paced. More friend and family oriented. More gatherings and BBQs. Times are just faster now and no one has the time for any of that kind of stuff anymore. World's losing its ways
