1. Music played by the Roma people.
2. Music played with chest-based vocals, microtonal sounds and loose, free solos.
3. An adaptation and combination of host music.
Some question the existence of pure Gypsy music, as the style differs in different areas. The Roma people borrow characteristics of local and regional areas which they took on to new areas, so Middle Eastern Gypsy music will sound different from Finnish Gypsy music. Common traits, however, include the deep, chest-based coarse vocals and chromatic and loose solos. The wide distances have introduced a multitude of influences of Greek, Spanish, Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Slavic, Romanian, German, French and Balkan musical forms.
Postcards From Italy
Beirut Lyrics

Oh, when the wind would blow with rain and snow
Were not all bad
We put our feet just where they had, had to go
Never to go
The shattered soul
Following close but nearly twice as slow
In my good times
There were always golden rocks to throw
At those who
Those who admit defeat too late
Those were our times, those were our times
And I will love to see that day
That day is mine
When she will marry me outside with the willow trees
And play the songs we made
They made me so
And I would love to see that day
Her day was mine
In the song "Postcards from Italy," Beirut sings about a reflection of the times they had that weren't all bad, despite the rain and snow that the wind blew in. They talk about putting their feet where they had to go and not where they wanted to go. The shattered soul still continued to follow close, but at a slower pace. In "good times," the singer always had golden rocks to throw at those who admit defeat too late, and they reminisce about those times. The singer expresses their desire to see the day when they'll marry their love outside with the willow trees and play the songs they made. They express the fond memories the songs remind them of and how much it would mean to see their love get married.
The song has a nostalgic feel to it, with lyrics that look back on old times and expressing gratitude for the good moments despite the bad weather. It's a bittersweet feeling that makes one long for the past. The singer's longing for a day when they could see their love get married creates a hopeful tone. The song has a heart-warming feel to it that grips at the heartstrings.

I understood what he meant, but the world is a cruel place, and his attempt at removing the problem of pain via sophistry is both callous and stupid.
"It's actually one of the most sane things I've ever heard."
He stated that pain is an entity that manifests itself into a feeling. What the fuck kind of nutty company do you keep?
"it's just something that will always live on, and that you have to live through it no matter what."
This means the earth isn't a cruel place? How?

@@adampratt1925 i am really sorry... I am so much in love with beirut that i always end up commenting some shit stuff...
I remember my first day when i came to know about beirut.
I was listening to milky chance on saavn (may be a playlist of 10 songs)
I slept listening to them.
The playlist ended and was on auto mode and it kept on playing nearly 2 hours.
And when i woke up, bamm!!!
I was listening to the elephant gun.
I am admirer of great music, and whatever force that exist in this world, made me to get to know beirut..
Those were my times...

That's mindblowing how they manage to make us feel nostalgic about memories that aren't ours. I didn't know that was possible.
@jessepinkman4191
I think its because it feels so universal. We all remember summer days in the sun, times spent with family and friends, people we knew and loved. This video and song tap into something very human.
@notyourbusiness7239
That was exactly what I was thinking. :)
@DarkAngelEU
It's the purpose of art, no? To feel something new yet familiar?

This was our song, my wife and I. She was amazing and I'll miss her till my last day. Might not be a believer in any kind of afterlife but Nat, I hope you know that I think of you every day and any time I hear this song I sing it out loud for you. You were the thing in this life people look for and never find. I love you.
@josephjones8971
You’re deeply loved

Dude you made me cry... I wish you all the best
@muffincutting6020
@Leo Jerez I appreciate it. It's been a few years now, and I'm getting along ok. Our boys keep me busy. Lol. Don't go shedding tears. She was worth it and the life we built was incredible. They might have a melancholy filter, but the memories will always make me smile.
