This has to be the most classiest & beautifully piece of Gershwin's PORKY&BESS "It Ain't Necessarily So" I have ever heard. Not many people know that Gershwin's PORKY&BESS has been considered a OPERA...every since 1975. So, hearing the classical piano version by Ldy. Mary L.Williams, just goes "hand`N`hand"!🌎🌍🌏🌐🎵

I am in awe. God bless Mary Lou Williams whom I discovered only last year whilst I was driving on a Saturday afternoon & I had the radio on, BBC 3, during their jazz program. I had to stop driving to make a note of this wonderful tune I had heard, which was Praise the Lord!

It's surprising to me that Mary Lou Williams put this highly irreverent song on a Christian concept album, but she remains one of my all-time favorite jazz musicians, the only woman instrumentalist who was on the same genius level as the best of the men of her era. She midwives the bebop movement – many of the ideas of bop were worked out in her apartment – and her career spanned from 1927 to 1978. Williams' sophistication shines through in this track, and so does her impeccable taste. For more Mary Lou Williams at her peak, check out the lively 1940's ballad she wrote for Coleman Hawkins, "Song In My Soul."
