Ratzinger was the creative force behind Wumpscut, occasionally employing the help of others as guest artists. Ratzinger cites the influence of such bands as Leæther Strip as his reason for making the transfer from DJing to recording music.
The release of the song "Soylent Green", which is named after the 1973 movie and also contains audio samples from the German dubbed version, first attracted attention to Wumpscut. Since its release in 1993, it has become a frequently played song at events and clubs in the gothic and industrial subcultures and its associated splinter groups, both in Germany and the United States.
So far Ratzinger has published numerous recordings and remixes for other artists. Wumpscut is also very well known for elaborate box set releases including limited versions of a CD or LP release in a box with additional and often also limited bonus material (bonus tracks, energy drinks, posters, pins, stickers, bags, flags, etc.). Wumpscut albums are reissued regularly with variant artworks and occasionally bonus tracks. Standalone merchandise is also available such as caps, mugs, etc.

Concrete Rage
:Wumpscut: Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
In times of oppression
I couldn't bear
My mother's obsessed
When I was born
In times of aggression
I had no faith
Concrete rage, concrete rage, concrete rage
When I was born
In times of aggression
I couldn't bear
My mother's obsessed
In a city made of steel
The concrete rage is all we feel
She could have been more of a mother
The dirty whore
A dirty whore called mother
A dirty whore she's my mother
A dirty whore oh mother
Just a dirty whore
Why is she my mother
Faceless people
Faceless masks
Faceless agony
Run, Run
And faceless hearts
The lyrics of :Wumpscut:'s song "Concrete Rage" describe the experiences of the artist growing up in difficult times of oppression and aggression. The song talks about the artist's mother being obsessed and not being the ideal mother figure they had expected. The artist's lack of faith during those times besides their mothers' chest implies a lack of comfort or security provided by her in those times of struggle. The use of the phrase "concrete rage" is interesting because it is a metaphor for the cold and harsh reality of living in a city made of steel. The rage itself is intense and unyielding, like concrete.
The artist's use of derogatory language towards their mother can be seen as an attempt to express the feelings of anger and resentment that they may have towards her. The artist feels betrayed by their mother, and she becomes the scapegoat for the artist's pain and frustration. The song also refers to faceless people, masks, agony and heartlessness which might indicate the artist's feelings towards society in general during those times.
Overall, the song paints a picture of a difficult upbringing and difficult societal conditions that the artist experienced. The use of metaphors like "concrete rage" implies how deep-rooted and all-encompassing the struggles of living in such a hostile environment can be, while also highlighting the artist's deep-seated anger and frustration towards their mother.
