From there she gained more public exposure; she released her debut single Level 42 in June 2004, which was featured on Saku Saku as its ending theme. Her debut album KAELA followed in December of the same year. Her fanbase grew considerably after her third single リルラ リルハ, which was used in a series of Vodafone commercials in Japan and made Kaela a household name.
Kaela's third studio album Scratch, released in February 2007, is her most successful so far, spending two consecutive weeks at number 1 on the Oricon charts and selling over 360,000 copies.
In 2009, Kaela released her fifth studio album, Hocus Pocus. Butterfly, a promotional song off the album, became Kaela's biggest hit. It was certified Million by the RIAJ in both ringtones and cellphone downloads, and Double Platinum in PC downloads.
In 2011, Kaela released her sixth studio album and first since her marriage to actor 瑛太 (Eita) and the birth of her first child, 8EIGHT8, which peaked atop the charts, making it her second album to do so, since Scratch.
Cloudy
木村カエラ Lyrics

どれくらい見ていないのだろう
目をつぶらなければ 体からなる
このリズムすら
聞こえないのだろう
私の中は いつも Cloudy
Cloudy
くもりは
シャワーをあびて 行こう
きれいに なるまでは 先 歩行
森の木々が 雫をにがしても
太陽 見えるまでは 咲き誇ろう
さあ...
In these lyrics, 木村カエラ (Kimura Kaela) describes a state of being trapped and disconnected from reality. She starts by saying she dives into the underground, away from the light of the surface, questioning how long she has been away from it. She wonders if she closes her eyes and shuts herself off, even the rhythm of her own body wouldn't be audible. This suggests a feeling of detachment and isolation. She feels that her inner world is always cloudy, symbolizing confusion and uncertainty.
She then talks about bursting out and the immense trees and storm raging within her. This can be interpreted as a metaphor for her inner turmoil and emotional chaos. The turbulence inside her is so overwhelming that it spills over and becomes a part of her surroundings. It's like she's trapped in this stormy state.
The lyrics also touch upon the meaning of music and its significance. She questions the purpose and message behind the overflowing music within her. She wonders what defines important moments and what it means to be affected by a powerful wind. She sees someone who seems like they might bring some clarity and hope, but she doubts this feeling, suggesting a lack of trust and skepticism.
The final lines express a desire to break through the cloudy state. She suggests taking a shower and moving forward, emphasizing the need to cleanse oneself and improve. Even if the trees in the forest release bitter drops, she will bloom until she can see the sun. This can be seen as a hopeful message, indicating a determination to overcome the confusion and find clarity.
