From there she gained more public exposure; she released her debut single Level 42 in June 2004, which was featured on Saku Saku as its ending theme. Her debut album KAELA followed in December of the same year. Her fanbase grew considerably after her third single リルラ リルハ, which was used in a series of Vodafone commercials in Japan and made Kaela a household name.
Kaela's third studio album Scratch, released in February 2007, is her most successful so far, spending two consecutive weeks at number 1 on the Oricon charts and selling over 360,000 copies.
In 2009, Kaela released her fifth studio album, Hocus Pocus. Butterfly, a promotional song off the album, became Kaela's biggest hit. It was certified Million by the RIAJ in both ringtones and cellphone downloads, and Double Platinum in PC downloads.
In 2011, Kaela released her sixth studio album and first since her marriage to actor 瑛太 (Eita) and the birth of her first child, 8EIGHT8, which peaked atop the charts, making it her second album to do so, since Scratch.
OH PRETTY WOMAN
木村カエラ Lyrics

walking down the street
Pretty woman,
the kind I like to meet
Pretty woman
I don't believe you,
you're not the truth
No one could look
Mercy
Pretty woman,
won't you pardon me
Pretty woman,
I couldn't help but see
Pretty woman
That you look lovely as can be
Are you lonely just like me
Pretty woman, stop awhile
Pretty woman, talk awhile
Pretty woman,
give your smile to me
Pretty woman, yeah yeah yeah
Pretty woman, look my way
Pretty woman,
say you'll stay with me
Cause I need you,
I'll treat you right
Come with me baby,
be mine tonight
Pretty woman, don't walk on by
Pretty woman, don't make me cry
Pretty woman
Don't walking away, hey.... ok
She's walking back to me
She's walking back to me
She's walking back to me
OH, OH, pretty woman.
The lyrics of "Oh Pretty Woman" by 木村カエラ (Kimura Kaela) describe the singer's fascination and attraction towards a beautiful woman he sees walking down the street. The song captures the excitement and admiration he feels as he watches her pass by. The repeated phrase "pretty woman" emphasizes her physical beauty and the singer's admiration for her.
In the first verse, the singer expresses disbelief that someone could look as good as the woman he is seeing. The line "No one could look as good as you" suggests that she stands out from anyone else he has encountered. The mention of "Mercy" could be seen as an exclamation of awe or admiration for this stunning woman.
The second verse shows the singer's desire to engage with the woman and get to know her better. He politely asks for her attention, showing his respect by saying, "Pretty woman, won't you pardon me?" He acknowledges her loveliness and expresses a sense of loneliness, wondering if she might feel the same way. This suggests that he is not only interested in her physically but also emotionally.
The bridge of the song is an invitation for the woman to stop and talk with the singer. He asks her to share her smile with him and hopes that she will stay with him because he needs her in his life and promises to treat her right. This part reveals the singer's desire for a deeper connection with the woman, not just a fleeting encounter. He is determined to make her his for the night.
In the final section of the song, the singer pleads with the woman not to walk away, indicating his fear of losing her. The repetition of "she's walking back to me" suggests that the woman ultimately decides to return to him. The final exclamation of "Oh, oh, pretty woman" conveys the singer's joy and relief as he realizes that she is coming back to him.
Overall, "Oh Pretty Woman" describes the singer's infatuation with a beautiful woman he encounters. It explores his desire to connect with her on a deeper level and his fear of losing her. The song captures the excitement and longing that often accompany initial attraction and the hope for a meaningful connection.
