The band was on both the 2005 and 2006 Vans Warped Tours (often on the smaller Ernie Ball Stage). They were also at the 2006 annual music festival held in the Phoenix area, "Edgefest".
The original album "An Offer You Can't Refuse" was composed of all band members except Dan Parker who was added to the line-up. A Change Of Pace also goes by the acronym "ACOP".
On June 1st, 2008, the band revealed on their MySpace blog how original singer, Torry Jasper would be replaced by their good friend Micah Bentley. The change brought about a new sound, as well as a new EP entitled "Just No Better Way." The news comes merely weeks before A Change of Pace heads out on their summer tour.
After delays, the band put forth their final LP in February 22, 2011, entitled "Couldn't Be Worse". It incorporated both of their older and newer sounds. Shortly thereafter, on March 13, it was announced on their Facebook page that after 10 years, they would disband, but not before playing a farewell show on April 22 at The Clubhouse in Tempe, Arizona.
A Change of Pace mixed their own brand of metal, punk and emo.
The band members as of 2011:
Micah Bentley: Vocals
Jonathan Kelly: Drums
Johnny Abdullah: Bass, vocals
Adam Rodgers: Lead guitar
Dan Parker: Guitar
How To Rape A Country
A Change of Pace Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Can you hear the sound of marching drums?
And bullets fill the sky
Men kill to show their nation's pride
The smell of death endures
Hold memories of your loved one's close
Find hope in pain my friend
Brother's in arms until the end
Slumber sweet with dreams of home
Hand in hand, don't march alone
We've got a thirst for your blood
It's pumping through our veins
Wait till the moments right
Show no mercy
What do we have to fear?
Lock stock, let's blow them all away
Then hide yourself in sleep
Hopeful they'll take you in the night
Eyes bloodshot, red straining ears
You'll see the ghost inside their eyes
A country left in tears
Watching the flag burn and die
Slumber sweet with dreams of more
Hand in hand, don't march alone
We've got a thirst for your blood
It's pumping through our veins
Wait till the moment arrives
Show no mercy
Dreams of more
We've got a thirst for your blood
(We've got a thirst for your blood)
Wait till the moments right
Show no mercy
We've got a thirst for your blood
It's pumping through our veins
Wait till the moment arrives
Show no mercy
We've got a thirst for your blood
It's pumping through our veins
Wait till the moment arrives
Show no mercy
The song "How To Rape A Country" by A Change of Pace depicts the brutality and devastation of war. The lyrics portray the sounds of war, including the marching drums and bullets filling the sky, and the fear and tragedy that come with it. The line "men kill to show their nation's pride" implies that the violence is often motivated by a sense of patriotism, and the verse "a country left in tears, watching the flag burn and die" suggests that even the victorious nation suffers in the aftermath of war.
Despite the bleakness of the lyrics, the chorus suggests a sense of power and control for the soldiers, who are depicted as having a "thirst for blood" and waiting for the "moment" to strike with "no mercy". The repetition of the phrase "we've got a thirst for your blood" reinforces this sense of aggression.
Overall, the lyrics of "How To Rape A Country" convey a grim picture of war and the damage it can inflict on both sides. The song serves as a reminder of the human cost of conflict and the importance of seeking peaceful solutions to international disputes.
