Their current lineup consists of Hoffmann, vocalist Mark Tornillo, guitarists Uwe Lulis and Philip Shouse, drummer Christopher Williams and bassist Martin Motnik. Before arriving at their current lineup, Accept has undergone numerous lineup changes, being Hoffmann the last remaining original member since its inception, and he is the only band member to appear on each album.
Accept played an important role in the development of speed and thrash metal, and they were part of the German heavy metal scene, which emerged in the early to mid-1980s. They have also been cited as an influence or inspiration by a number of acts, including Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Testament, Anthrax, Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Overkill, Exodus, and Annihilator, as well as fellow Germans such as Helloween, Blind Guardian, Doro, Sodom, Rage, and Grave Digger. Accept achieved its first commercial success with their fifth studio album Balls to the Wall (1983), which is the band's only album to be certified gold in the United States and Canada, and spawned their well-known hit "Balls to the Wall".
Accept have broken up and reformed multiple times. They first split up in 1989, several months after the release of Eat the Heat (which was their only album with Dirkschneider's initial replacement David Reece), but reformed in 1992 and released three more albums before disbanding again in 1997. After briefly reuniting in 2005, Accept announced their third reunion in 2009, with former T.T. Quick frontman Mark Tornillo replacing Dirkschneider (who declined to participate), and the band has recorded five albums with him: Blood of the Nations (2010), Stalingrad (2012), Blind Rage (2014), The Rise of Chaos (2017) and Too Mean to Die (2021); each of those albums renewed Accept's popularity in Germany and entered the top ten charts there.

Bloodbath Mastermind
Accept Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Hatred breeds in your mind
Consciously heartless, blood running cold
Your evils begun to unwind
Lost in confusion your plotting unfolds
Madness starts to take shade
Explosions and shootings, out of control
When all that we care for has gone up in smoke
A burnt out horizon remains
The last things heard were the curses you spoke
And the shots that took you away
You're the antimatter, bloodbath mastermind
Human antimatter, bloodbath mastermind
No one can say why you've taken this path
Murder has become your creed
Or how you became this psychopath
Spawn of the seed
The depth of your sickness could not be contained
It's now just a story we'll tell
All we can hope for is that justice be paid
And you serve your sentence in Hell
You're the antimatter, bloodbath mastermind
Human antimatter, bloodbath mastermind
We seek retribution for the crimes
But you have taken that away
You chose a cowards suicide
Could be we're better off this way
You're the antimatter
Bloodbath Mastermind by the German metal band Accept is a song that explores the mind of a mass murderer. The lyrics describe the villain as someone who harbors hatred and is completely heartless, with blood running cold in his veins. The singer of the song is described as an evil mastermind who has lost his way in life, descending into madness with plots and plans that ultimately come to fruition in a series of violent outbursts. The song is filled with imagery that is meant to evoke despair and hopelessness, with the innocent running for their lives and all that is dear to them going up in smoke.
What is especially notable about Bloodbath Mastermind is how it challenges the listener to empathize with a character that is so unsympathetic. The lyrics acknowledge the depth of the singer's sickness, but do not apologize for his actions or make excuses for his behavior. Instead, the song emphasizes the need for justice, even as it recognizes that the atrocities committed cannot be undone. Overall, Bloodbath Mastermind is a song that seeks to understand the motivations of those who commit unspeakable acts of violence.
