Z'n bakkenbaarden dicht behaard
La mama, dat jij nu weg bent doet me veel verdriet

The lyrics of André Hazes's song Koningin van de zigeuners pay homage to a beloved mother who has passed away. The first verse sets the tone for the somber mood of the song, describing the appearance of a mourner with "black hair" and a "brown face" who is always holding his guitar. The second verse speaks directly to the singer's mother, expressing deep sadness at her passing and a desire to play music for her one last time, even though she cannot hear it. The chorus is a tribute to the mother's strength and dignity, describing her as a "true queen" among the gypsies, who will always be remembered and honored.
Overall, the song conveys the deep sense of loss and sorrow that comes with the death of a loved one, highlighting the importance of music and community in dealing with grief. Through its poignant lyrics and mournful melody, Koningin van de zigeuners captures the universal experience of mourning and serves as a powerful tribute to the singer's mother.
