alleen in huis
alsjeblieft kom toch weer thuis
In André Hazes's song "Het is koud zonder jou," the lyrics describe the loneliness and longing felt by the singer after a break-up. The singer has been sitting and staring out the window for hours, hoping that their former partner will return, even though they know it's unlikely. The rain outside only exacerbates their melancholy, as they count the drops on their window and can't escape thoughts of their ex.
The chorus expresses the singer's feelings of deep love and devotion towards their former partner, implying that they don't need to say these things out loud because it's obvious in the way they look at each other. Despite this love, the singer is still left to suffer through a cold and lonely night without their partner.
Throughout the second verse, the singer continues to express their sadness as they spend their first evening alone since the break-up. They resign themselves to the fact that this loneliness will continue for some time, as they write their ex's name onto a foggy window.
Overall, the song's themes revolve around the pain of lost love, the longing for a partner's return, and the ways in which people communicate love to one another.
