Soeur Angélique
Annie Philippe Lyrics

De te vois habiller comme ça
Et puis surtout de tappeler
Soeur Angelique, Soeur Angelique
Ne va pas te moquer de moi,
J'ose à peine te tutoyer
C'est difficile de t'appeler,
Les copains n'ont pas oublié
Combien tu aimais toamuser
On a jamais compris au fond, ta décision
Les copains, mais je leur dirai
Que t'as l'air très heureuse, c'est vrai
Ça saute aux yeux, je m'y connais
Soeur Angelique, Soeur Angelique
T'arrive t-il de penser à nous?
A Patrick, à Claire, à Zizou?
Et à ton grand copain Jean-Lou?
Soeur Angelique, Soeur Angelique
Soeur Angelique, Soeur Angelique
Soeur Angelique, Soeur Angelique
The opening lines of the song "Soeur Angélique" by Annie Philippe evoke a feeling of nostalgia and surprise. The singer is addressing someone they know, perhaps an old friend from their youth, who is now dressed as a nun and goes by the name "Soeur Angélique." The singer is moved by this transformation and feels hesitant to address their friend by this new name, which symbolizes a religious dedication to a life of service. However, as the song progresses, the singer's curiosity grows, and they begin to ask questions about their friend's life and feelings.
The lyrics reference the fact that Soeur Angélique's decision to become a nun was unexpected and confusing to their friends. Indeed, the singer admits they never really understood why their friend chose this path, perhaps suggesting that it was a difficult decision for Soeur Angélique to make as well. Nonetheless, the singer insists that Soeur Angélique looks happy and content in her new life, despite having left old friends like Patrick, Claire, Zizou, and Jean-Lou behind.
The song takes an emotional turn in the last few lines when the singer notices that Soeur Angélique is crying. They ask why she is crying and encourage her not to feel so upset. The song leaves us with many questions and a sense of nostalgia for a time long past.

I'm here because of having listened this song played by Therion... I have to say that the original version is so sweet...and i have to say that Therion did a good work not distorting this song too much...

"Histoire d'une vocation": je ne suis pas sûre! C'est un choix par dépit. Comme son "grand copain Jean-Loup" s'est marié alors qu'elle l'aimait, elle n'a pas supporté et s'est faite nonne.
Ce n'est pas une vocation, c'est plutôt dramatique.
