She has sung Hindi, Assamese, Urdu, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Tamil, English, Russian, Czech, Nepali, Malay and Malayalam.
In 2006, Asha Bhosle stated that she had sung over 12,000 songs, a figure repeated by several other sources. The World Records Academy, an international organization which certifies world records, recognized her as the "Most Recorded Artist" in the world, in September 2009. The Government of India honoured her with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.

This song & the Emergency of Indira Gandhi have one thing in common -the year 1975!
This song had won the Filmfare Award for best song of that Emergency year (1975).
But this song has it's distinct claim to fame -it's the only movie song in the world that won the best song of the year award in a national movie competition, but wasn't ever included in any film !
This unfilmed song sung by Asha Bhosale on music director O. P. Nayyar's tune was recorded in 1968 or in 1969 when singer Asha Bhonsle & composer O.P.Nayyar were good friends.
Around 1973, Asha and O.P. Nayyar's relationship broke up.
In 1974, Nayyar released the song in a long playing music record {LP} of the film "Pran Jaye Par Vachan Na Jaye".
Asha Bhonsle did not permit the inclusion of the song 'picturized' in her voice in that movie.
In 1975, this song won the Filmfare Award.
Asha Bhonsle declined to receive that award.
On learning this, O.P.Nayyar
this song's composeragreed to accept that Award on Filmfare's stageOn his way back home after the acceptance ceremony, O.P. Nayyar is reported to have thrown the Filmfare trophy in sea at Haji Ali Dargah.

इस गीत के बाद आशा जी नय्यर साहिब से अलग हो तो गई लेकिन उन्हें भुला नहीं पाई.. 1979 में दूर दर्शन के इसी कार्यक्रम में उन्होने इसी गीत को जिद कर गाया और तीसरा अंतरा भी गा दिया जो रिकार्ड में भी नहीं है हम यूट्यूब पर सुन सकते हैं जिसने आशा जी चेहरे पर अलगाव का दर्द बहुत शिद्दत से मेहसूस किया जा सकता है आखिर क्यों न हों नय्यर साहिब ने आशा ताई की जिंदगी बदल दी थी उन्हें आकाश पर ही बिठा दिया था
आशा ताई और नय्यर साहिब को हज़ारों हज़ार सलाम..
