The lyrics of Asha Bhosle's song "Jis Ke Sir Upar Tu Swami" delve into the concept of surrendering to a higher power, specifically to the divine entity that governs over all. The repetition of the phrase "Jis ke sir upar tu Swami" emphasizes the idea of acknowledging and submitting to the supreme authority. The lyrics question the nature of suffering that one may encounter when they have the support and guidance of this divine being. It questions the validity of experiencing pain and sorrow when under the protection of the omnipresent Swami.
The mention of not being able to comprehend the illusions of Maya and being intoxicated by material desires highlights the idea of being detached from worldly temptations and distractions. The line "Marana chiti na aavai" signifies the detachment from the fear of death and the liberation of the soul from the cycle of birth and death. By focusing on the divine presence above all else, one can transcend mortal fears and concerns.
The chorus praising "Satnam Waheguru" reinforces the belief in the true name of the divine and the awe-inspiring glory of the creator. The subsequent verses express devotion to the divine as the ultimate solace for all pains and struggles. The lyrics emphasize that those who are immersed in the love and devotion of the Swami experience freedom from the sufferings of life and death.
The lyrics further elaborate on the idea of seeking refuge in the divine and having faith in the benevolence of the Guru. The lines suggest that by surrendering to the divine will and placing one's trust in the spiritual guide, one can overcome the influence of negative forces and find peace and acceptance in the divine presence. The overall message of the song conveys the importance of faith, surrender, and devotion to the Swami as a means to transcend worldly troubles and find solace in the divine embrace.
