The lyrics of Kehta Hai Kabutar revolve around a deep philosophical theme of the nature of truth. The opening lines sarcastically reference the famous whisky brand, Johnnie Walker, and its motto "Keep Walking," by stating that the truth is uttered by the homely chicken of the house, which is equal to the whisky brand. The song implies that the truth is present in the most mundane things in life. The line "N aam ke piche bhaage, duniya kaam na dekhe koi" means that people ignore individuals who are nameless and runs towards people famous and popular, who in turn are busy with their responsibilities.
The next lines talk about how people often lose hope and give up after being tired of telling the truth repeatedly without any results. The following lines about "Sabki samajh par pad gaye patthar" mean that those who try to speak the truth to the world are often met with indifference or worse. However, the song asserts that the chicken in the house, like the truth, is always present. The lines "Sudaar roop suhaaye goriya, nazuk si baal khaaye" mean that the chicken is delicate and beautiful, and even with minimal food, it is content.
Overall, the song argues that the truth is universal, present in the most ordinary things in life, and that we should be mindful of it.
