Throughout their 10 years of activities the band experimented with a variety of different styles, such as rockabilly and surf-rock. Their lyrics–most of which were written by Asai–touched upon serious matters such as broken families and animal mistreatment, but also imaginative creatures and individuals made up in Asai’s mind. The band’s lineup remained consistent until breaking up in 2000. After the disbandment, Asai Kenichi created his own label, Sexy Stones Records, and founded the bands SHERBETS, JUDE and AJICO. Drummer Nakamura Tatsuya went on to concentrate on his LOSALIOS project, while bassist Terui Toshiyuki recorded material in bands such as ROSSO and RAVEN. In later years, he has also played bass on some of Asai Kenichi’s solo project releases.

BLANKEY JET CITY Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Guitar
Guitar
Guitar
Guitar
These lyrics are from the song "幸せな人" ("Shiawase na Hito" or "Happy Person") by the Japanese rock band BLANKEY JET CITY. The lyrics reflect contemplation about happiness and the search for the happiest person in the world. The singer wonders what one would need to acquire to feel that happiness and ponders if such a person even exists. The lyrics then shift to imagery of flying birds crossing the Tokyo sky and intentions to cross the desolate sea. The notion of distant future conversations and the existential question of our existence in this world are also raised.
The song continues with the singer dreaming of a world without mistakes or sadness, questioning if that world would truly be wonderful. The lyrics then introduce the guitar, describing how it plays amidst countless stars and how the singer collects tiny seashells to create a necklace. But when the wind blows and tears it apart, the singer wonders how far they can go. The song ends by repeating the chorus, with the guitar playing in the midst of countless stars, and asks if anyone can hear it.
Overall, the lyrics explore themes of happiness, the search for meaning in life, and the transient nature of existence.
