After two demo tapes in 1990 and 1991, the band were picked up by French label Adipocere Records, which made possible the band's first two commercial releases, 1993's Up Through the Linear Shades 7" and 1994's Longing For Scarlet Days EP. In 1995, Beyond Dawn released their critically acclaimed full length debut Pity Love on Candlelight Records. Soon after, the band began work on an album intended to be a departure from the doom metal music they were becoming known for, but their record label was less than pleased with the band's drastic change in sound and they were soon in search of a new label. They eventually signed with Misanthropy Records and released Revelry in 1998 to more critical praise. Beyond Dawn eventually resumed work on the would-be 1996 album and, after adding additional material and overdubs, released In Reverie in 1999 on Eibon Records, which would also be reissued in 2005 with two bonus tracks included. During the latter half of 1999, they released Electric Sulking Machine on the Peaceville label, which soon became a favorite amongst fans and remains sought after due to its limited pressing.
Due in part to the limited commercial success of Frysh, the band went on hiatus in 2003 to focus on other projects. Some time later, several tracks from Frysh were remixed by various electronic and EBM artists and released in the form of the double LP We're Down With Species of Any Kind in 2005. The band remains on an indefinite hiatus.
The Right People
Beyond Dawn Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You know the essential
You never get too annoying or too intense
Into the arena of light entertainment and hollowness
Nobody here are undressing themselves
If you still feel like offering a single piece of yourself
Throw it out like a joke it's a major mistake in your own rubber skin
Life is hard in classrooms and bars relief is godknowshere
Start dealing with the rich people bow your head
You'll pay your attention or at least they'll pretend
The idea of a straight and narrow minded way
Will get you in touch with a few exceptions in the world

The lyrics for Beyond Dawn's song The Right People talk about conformity and how people often feel pressured to conform to certain social norms to fit in. The first verse speaks of how easy it is to please some people and how they never get too intense or annoying, indicating that these people are content with anything and will not accept anything out of the ordinary. The second verse talks about how entertainment and hollowness have taken over society, and people have to put up a facade to fit in. There is an emphasis on not expressing oneself openly, and the verse highlights the irony of it; people are present, but nobody is truly present.
The chorus of the song urges the listener to reach for their inner treasure as a way to escape from the social pressure of conformity. The phrase "life is hard in classrooms and bars relief is godknowshere" reiterates this point that escaping from conformity is necessary to find relief from the difficulties of life. The song then instructs the listener to start dealing with rich people by bowing their heads and paying attention, suggesting that this is the only acceptable mode of behavior when dealing with people from a higher social class. Finally, the song warns against being too outspoken or different; the idea of a straight and narrow-minded way is the best approach to take as it will get you in touch with a few exceptions in the world.
