The members of The Band first worked together as The Hawks, the backing band of rockabilly singer Ronnie Hawkins from 1959 until 1963. Shortly afterwards, Bob Dylan came to Toronto and recruited the quintet for his history-making 1965/1966 world tour. The Band also worked with Dylan on the initial Blonde on Blonde sessions which, bar two tracks, were ultimately abandoned in favour of versions recorded with Nashville session musicians.
After a motorcycle accident in mid-1966, Dylan retreated from the public eye to his country house near Woodstock, New York. He was joined by the Band for some informal jam sessions starting in the autumn of 1967, nearly all of which were recorded. After being heavily bootleged, Columbia Records finally released The Basement Tapes in 1975, a selection of the better tracks recorded during the sessions along with new recordings by The Band.
Bob Dylan and The Band were reunited in 1974, recording Planet Waves for Asylum Records, Dylan's first album recorded for a record label other than Columbia. Although the album was released under Dylan's name alone, The Band joined Dylan for his first tour in eight years in support of Planet Waves, with some of the material recorded and released on the 1975 concert record Before the Flood.
Columbia Records finally released The Bootleg Series Vol. 11: The Basement Tapes Complete in November 2014, featuring every surving recording from the original sessions in Woodstock.

Desperté
Sin entender mis palabras
Hablé
Preguntando por ti
Desde ayer
Que no recuerdo mi nombre
Tal vez
And tell me what about it (It's confidential)
Tell me what you like about me (It's confidential)
And tell what about your smile (It's confidential)
Tell me what's all about! (It's confidential)
It's confidential, baby
SĂ© que
Sà sé que yo estoy perdido
Entre
Tu boca y tu brasier
Y dime
Si en verdad lo disfrutas
Porque yo no me quiero detener
And tell me what about it (It's confidential)
Tell me what you like about me (It's confidential)
And tell what about your smile (It's confidential)
Tell me what's all about! (It's confidential)
It's confidential, baby
Let me know, let me know, let me know
It is confidential, baby
It is confidential, baby
It is confidential, baby
It is confidential, baby
It's confidential
It's confidential
It's confidential
Do we have a plan B, general?
Just in case the Earth population discover that this is a conspiracy
That's not a concern lieutenant
The truth has been in front of them all these years
But they are not able to see it
The first verse of Bob Dylan and The Band's song "Confidential" is sung in Spanish and translates to "Ok, ok, I woke up without understanding my words. I spoke, asking for you. Since yesterday, I do not remember my name. Maybe I just got confused." These lyrics set the tone for a song that is intimate and mysterious. The singer seems lost and confused, unsure of his surroundings and his own intentions. He is searching for something, but he's not quite sure what it is.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "It's confidential" several times, emphasizing the idea that whatever the singer is feeling or experiencing is personal and private. He wants to share it with someone, but he's hesitant and unsure of how to do so. The lyrics "Tell me what you like about me" and "Tell me what's all about" suggest that the singer is trying to figure out what it is that makes him desirable or unique.
The second verse of the song continues the intimate and sensual tone, as the singer describes being lost between a woman's mouth and her bra. He asks her if she enjoys what they're doing, but he also acknowledges that he doesn't want to stop. The repetition of the phrase "It's confidential" throughout the song reinforces the idea that the singer is struggling to discuss his emotions and desires with another person.
Overall, "Confidential" is a song about intimacy, desire, and the struggles of articulating one's emotions. The use of Spanish in the first verse adds an element of mystery to the lyrics, emphasizing the idea that the emotions being discussed are personal and private.
