During 1970 and 1971, Wailer, Marley and Tosh worked with renowned reggae producers Leslie Kong and Lee "Scratch" Perry.
They released four albums before signing to Island Records in 1972. Two more albums were created before Tosh and Wailer left the band in 1974, citing grievances over label treatment and ideological differences. Marley carried on with a new line-up, including the I-Threes that put out seven more more albums. Marley died in 1981.
The Wailers were a groundbreaking ska and reggae group, noted for songs such as "Simmer Down", "Trenchtown Rock", "Nice Time", "War", "Stir It Up" and "Get Up, Stand Up".

Long time we no have no nice time
You-you doo-doo-doo, yeah, think about that!
Long time we no have no nice time
You-you doo-doo-doo, yeah, think about that!
This is my heart
I'll give you love
Time you're you ready
This little heart in me
Just won't let me be
I'm rockin'
Won't you rock with me?
Long time we no have no nice time
You-you doo-doo-doo, yeah, think about that!
(Trumpet solo)
This is my heart
To rock you steady
I'll give you love
The time you're you ready
This little heart in me
Just won't let me be
I'm just-a rock this now
Won't you rock wid me?
A long - long - long - long time we no have no nice time
Thank ya, thank ya, babe!
(You-you doo-doo-doo, yeah, think about that!)
(Trumpet solo)
The lyrics of Bob Marley's song Nice Time is an expression of his simple desire for happiness and enjoyment in life. The songwriter sings about how it's been a long time since he had a good time and how he wants to create a good time with the person he's addressing when he sings, "This is my heart, To rock you steady, I'll give you love, Time you're ready."
He goes on to ask the person to rock with him as he sings, "This little heart in me, just won't let me be, I'm rocking, won't you rock with me?" The trumpet solo in the song accentuates the happy mood, emphasizing the feeling of a good time or party.
The song's simplicity, both in its lyrics and melody, is what makes it a classic. Bob Marley's purpose in creating this song was to bring people together and remind them of the importance of enjoying life, no matter how challenging it may be.
