Darin was a very special and talented entertainer. He was a Grammy award winning singer ('Mack The Knife'), a respected member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ('Dream Lover', 'Splish Splash', 'If I Were A Carpenter') a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, a successful record producer, an Oscar nominated actor and a strong supporter of the American Heart Association. Bobby was married to actress Sandra Dee from 1960-1967. They had one son, Dodd, born in December 1961. As a result of complications from a rheumatic heart, Bobby's life was tragically cut short in 1973.
Darin's mother, Vanina Cassotto, had given birth to him when she was 16, and as a result, her parents raised Darin as though he were their son while Vanina was presented off as his elder sister. Darin did not learn the truth about his parentage until he was 32.

Days Of Wine & Roses
Bobby Darin Lyrics

Like a child at play
Through a meadowland toward a closing door
A door marked ''nevermore'' that wasn't there before
The lonely night discloses just a passing breeze
Filled with memories
Of the golden smile that introduced me to
In "The Days of Wine and Roses," Bobby Darin paints a melancholic picture of the fleeting nature of happiness and the bitter aftermath of nostalgia. The song opens with the image of carefree days ("the days of wine and roses") that quickly slip away like a child's laughter through a meadow towards a door marked "nevermore." The doors symbolize the inevitability of change and the realization that once gone, certain moments might never return again.
The second verse depicts the singer's loneliness as the night reveals the passing breeze that brings back memories of a once golden smile. The image of wine and roses is used to represent the joy and happiness that was shared between two people, and the final line of the song, "the days of wine and roses and you," reveals that it was the presence of someone special that made those days so meaningful, and without that person, they are all but a distant memory.
Overall, the song communicates a profound sense of loss and nostalgia. It reminds us that nothing lasts forever, and our happiest moments will inevitably come to an end. However, at the same time, it inspires the listener to cherish every moment and every person in their life while they still can.

One heck of a entertainer. A life cut way to soon. RIP Mr. Darin. Remember one thing he was one of the first Emmy winners, in the late 50s. When the emmys started.
