Ehrenfeld
Brings Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Du häs keine Jlöckstän
un all' die Engel lore fott
Di Hätz is ne Schlaachhoff
un dinge Buch is voll met Schrott
Wie et Bermuda-Dreieck
zwesche Milch, Fleisch un Sex
he is mancher jebore
un mancher verreck
Refrain:

Denn du bes zwesche Himmel un Höll'
wie ne Diamant unger all dem Jeröll
Du bes för jeden do
dä zo dir hält - Ihrefeld
Fabrikruine un Bahndamm
Minsche ohne Job
Jewöhl us hundert Sproche
un se bette zo Allah un Jott
Maach die Auge op
et litt Jold op d'r Stroß
wä de einmol häs
löste nie widder loß
Refrain:...

En dir ben ich jebore
he kritt mich keiner erus
Refrain:...

Ming janze Welt litt en Ehrefeld

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Brings's song "Ehrenfeld" are about a person who feels lost and disconnected from the world around them. They have no luck and feel like all the angels have abandoned them. Their heart is a graveyard and their book is full of junk. They are stuck in a Bermuda Triangle between milk, meat, and sex, and while some are born there, others die there. Despite all of this, the song reassures the listener that they are a diamond among all the debris, and everyone who holds onto them stays in Ehrenfeld.

The song continues to describe the environment of Ehrenfeld, including abandoned factories and unemployed people speaking hundreds of languages and praying to different Gods. The song encourages the listener to open their eyes and see the gold on the street, and never let go of the people they hold close. The song ends with the singer proclaiming that their whole world is in Ehrenfeld, and that they can never escape.

Overall, the song seems to be about finding value in the midst of chaos and destruction. The listener is encouraged to hold onto those who are loyal and stay grounded in their community, no matter how rough it may seem.
