Sorcerer
Buckingham Nicks Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Iโ€ฒm tired
I'm thirsty
Iโ€ฒm wild-eyed
In my misery
Timeless in your finery
It's a high price
For your luxury
Sorcerer
Who is the master
A man and woman on a star stream
In the middle of a snow dream
Sorcerer
Show me the high life
Come over
Let me put you on ice
All around black ink darkness
And who found lady from the mountains
All around black ink darkness
And who found lady from the mountains
Lady from the mountains
I'm tired
I need you badly
Iโ€ฒm wild-eyed
In my misery
Timeless in your finery
Itโ€ฒs a high price
For your luxury
Sorcerer
Who is the master
A man and woman on a star stream
In the middle of a snow dream
Sorcerer
Show me the high life

Come over
Let me put you on ice

Overall Meaning

The song "Sorcerer" by Buckingham Nicks is a poetic expression of desire for a relationship that is both liberating and all-consuming. The singer is tired, thirsty, and wild-eyed, caught up in a feeling of misery that can only be cured by the object of their affection, the sorcerer. Despite the high price of indulging in luxury and being at the mercy of a sorcerer, the singer still yearns for that sensation of being completely enveloped in their lover's power.

The chorus of the song features repeated lines that allude to the sorcerer's role as master in the relationship. The phrase "a man and woman on a star stream in the middle of a snow dream" conjures up ideas of being swept away in a magical world that is beyond reality. Meanwhile, the line "show me the high life, come over, let me put you on ice" hints at the addictive nature of the sorcerer's spell, with the singer wanting to experience the highs and lows of being under their spell.

Overall, "Sorcerer" is an intriguing exploration of the complexities of power dynamics in relationships. The lyrics reflect the intensity of emotions that come with being under the spell of someone who has a grip on one's heart and soul.

I love all the incarnations of her voice. It doesnโ€™t really change, just deepens, thickens but always unmistakably Stevie โค

@nolanwinter5401

Best version hands down. Stevie already had that mystical, powerful presense at such a young age. Just amazing.

@rileymcintosh4852

Absolutely agree with you

@lauriebritton808

I dont think i agree with that. Oh you can definately hear the beginnings of something that if refined a little, added some good producing and maybe a couple more good mucicians that it could go,.......who knows where?........... And , whaddaya know? The stars allinged , or something , and those beginnings turned into some of the most loved music that we'll cherish forever. Fleetwood Mac defined some of my best younger years. And Stevie Nicks one of my very top female singer-songwriters my whole life!!!!! God given Talent!!! What a blessing!๐ŸŽต๐ŸŽน๐ŸŽธ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽค

Unequaled vocalists both of the just perfect imperfection

@thomasjames8277

I wish they were able to finish a second album before joining Fleetwood Mac. I love the style of their songs from this era.

@LittleWing1985

They basically took a lot what was supposed to be a second album and it put it on the first Fleetwood Mac album they recorded after joining.

@rileymcintosh4852

I agree. Definitely lightning in a bottle
