Bury Tomorrow Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I can feel you running, I can taste the sickness in the air
Go grab the stuff Kate, can't you see that it's time for us to go
Our luck is turning, I can see your sadness isn't fair
Just don't look back babe, I'll be behind you all the way
The others are learning (the pages are turning)
The evidence is scattered on the floor (let's get out of town)
My mind is bending, I've been here time and time before
These woods aren't safe for us, get up and save yourself
You won't see the whites babe, of their bloodshot eyes
These woods aren't safe for us, get up and save yourself
You won't see the whites of their eyes

Where would I be without you?
Where would I be?
I can feel you running, I can taste the sickness in the air

There's something I never and I never knew
There's something I never and I never knew

Overall Meaning

The song "These Woods Aren't Safe For Us" by Bury Tomorrow is a highly emotional and intense track that talks about the singer's feeling of danger and urgency to leave the vicinity at once. The opening lines, "I can feel you running, I can taste the sickness in the air," create a sense of panic and apprehension. The singer calls out to a person named Kate, urging her to grab the essentials and leave immediately. The mention of 'our luck turning' and 'others are learning' suggests that they are in a dire situation which they should evade.

The singer acknowledges the sadness of leaving but insists that they must go without looking back. The line, "I'll be behind you all the way" shows that the singer is determined to be with Kate through the tough times. The evidence being scattered on the floor and the mind bending signifies chaos and confusion that surrounds them. The chorus "These woods aren't safe for us, get up and save yourself, you won't see the whites babe, of their bloodshot eyes" reinforces the danger looming over them and how staying there could be deadly.

The ending lines "There's something I never and I never knew" is perhaps the singer's realization that they never fully knew what they were entering or the extent of the danger there. Overall, the song captures the feeling of being trapped in a perilous situation and the urge to leave without looking back.

I don’t understand why the basically erased this album! I can’t find it anywhere. In my opinion this was their best album by far. I don’t dig the new sound

Wish they still played this song live...one of their best

Kyron

Such a massive shame they don't. Got to see it back in 2010 (when all they had was this album, Innocents, and the newly released On Waxed Wings), and it was great. They also played a cover of Livin' la Vida Loca, which I also bet they don't perform anymore, so that's another great song (when they play it) that's now missing.

Back in 2019 before the Black flame tour they asked on twitter which song from portraits we wanted to hear. These woods got by far the most votes, they didn’t end up playing it lmao absolutely terrible

Fabian Greiner

They just played it live last year in germany a few times
