Pour un jour avoir été promise
Par mon père au pire ennemi?
Quelle ironie
Dieu d'amour, n′est-il pas permis
D'épouser l'homme que j′aurais choisi?
N′aurai-je que cette mélodie
Ouh, ouh-ouh, ouh-ouh, ouh-ouh
Je veux être libre
Ouh, ouh-ouh, ouh-ouh, ouh-ouh
Pour rêver l'impossible
Oh, Angus, fils du dieu céleste
N′entends-tu le chant de ma détresse?
Permets-moi de connaître l'ivresse
De ma jeunesse
Est-ce toi qui a envoyé
Jusqu′à moi ce vaillant chevalier?
Est-ce lui l'homme que j′attendais?
Que j'espérais, que j'espérais?
Ouh, ouh-ouh, ouh-ouh, ouh-ouh
Je veux être libre
Ouh, ouh-ouh, ouh-ouh, ouh-ouh
Pour rêver l′impossible
Ouh, ouh-ouh, ouh-ouh, ouh-ouh
Ouh, ouh-ouh, ouh-ouh, ouh-ouh
Ouh, ouh-ouh, ouh-ouh, ouh-ouh
Pour rêver l′impossible
The lyrics of Camille Lou's "Rêver l'impossible" tells the story of a woman who has been promised to her father's worst enemy, which leaves her feeling powerless and trapped. She questions the injustice of being given away without her own choice and wonders if it's possible to marry the man she truly loves. The chorus "Je veux être libre pour rêver l'impossible" (I want to be free to dream the impossible) shows her determination to break free from societal expectations and pursue her own dreams.
The singer seeks help from Angus, the son of a celestial god, asking him to hear her plea for freedom and to allow her to experience the thrill of youth. She wonders whether he's the one who chose to send a brave knight to rescue her, the man she was waiting and hoping for.
The song's melody mirrors the singer's emotional turmoil with its melancholy and poignant tones. The repeated "ouh-ouh" creates a haunting and ethereal ambiance, evoking a sense of longing and hope for a better future.
