For the Love of a Girl
Carole King Lyrics

Everybody's got a little child inside
Still looking for love
Everything we do is in search of it
Everything we say or think of
And every time we reach for somebody
We're reaching out for love
Everybody's looking for love
Everybody is looking for love

When someone says a kind word
It's music to your ears
Yet somewhere inside you're wondering
If you really deserve to let go of your fears
You want to make a connection, you're looking for a way
To escape the loneliness and the tears
That you've had for years
Everybody's looking for love
Everybody is looking for love
But you know you gotta

Hold out, don't settle for less
Hold out for the real thing, hold out for the real thing
Hold out, you deserve the best
Hold out for the real thing, hold out for the real thing
Hold out for love

Maybe you're looking for security
But without a doubt
You're gonna miss the love you wish you had
'Cause love is what life is all about

Well, if it don't feel right, then don't do it
If the night is dark, don't sell your soul to get through it
Listen to your heart, it'll tell you how to do it
Love will be worth the wait
Everybody's looking for love
Everybody is looking for love
But you know you gotta

Hold out, don't settle for less
Hold out for the real thing, hold out for the real thing
Hold out, you deserve the best
Hold out for the real thing, hold out for the real thing
Hold out for love

Looking out on the morning rain
I used to feel so uninspired
And when I knew I had to face another day
Lord, it made me feel so tired
Before the day I met you, life was so unkind
But you're the key to my peace of mind

'Cause you make me feel
You make me feel
You make me feel like a natural woman (woman)

When my soul was in the lost and found
You came along to claim it
I didn't know just what was wrong with me
'Til your kiss helped me name it
Now I'm no longer doubtful, of what I'm living for
'Cause if I make you happy I don't need to do more

You make me feel
You make me feel
You make me feel like a natural woman

Oh baby what you've done to me (what you've done to me)
You make me feel so good inside (good inside)
And I just wanna be (wanna be)
Close to you you make me feel so alive

You make me feel
You make me feel
You make me feel like a natural, natural woman

You make me feel
You know you make me feel
You make me feel like a natural woman

You know, you
You make me feel
You make me feel
You make me feel like a natural woman
Natural woman

Aretha's version is for when you need to feel inspired, and Carole's version is for when you need a good cry.

@eugenedoyle9960

Without Carole we would not have Aretha version

@cc-ln9pf

@Eugene Doyle And? That doesn't negate the point the Original comment made. The different version give different vibes.

@eugenedoyle9960

@c ks and those different vibes would not exist without Carole King.

@ItsSmoak

@Eugene Doyle she never denied that idiot

@eugenedoyle9960

@Smoak Aretha could never deny it.

I prefer the intimacy of this version. Its like she's singing it right to you in a room. Its very stripped down and it allows you to really hear the words and the beauty of the music. Its great. Carole King can do no wrong in my book.

@fraundakelmbrilpondaprost90

Perfectly put. On top of all that, King also carries a very slight remorse and pain to her inflection. As if her new love is bringing her away from a pain she still carries on some level.

You both may then like this version from 12 year old Angelina Jordan https://youtu.be/rt6KhBxiaDo. This was recorded days after Aretha passed. It is recorded more in the Carole King style, however, as a tribute to Aretha. Slowed down and heartfelt.
