King's major success began in the 1960s when she and her first husband, Gerry Goffin, wrote more than two dozen chart hits, many of which have become standards, for numerous artists. She has continued writing for other artists since then. King's success as a performer in her own right did not come until the 1970s, when she sang her own songs, accompanying herself on the piano, in a series of albums and concerts. After experiencing commercial disappointment with her debut album Writer, King scored her breakthrough with the album Tapestry, which topped the U.S. album chart for 15 weeks in 1971 and remained on the charts for more than six years.
King has made 25 solo albums, the most successful being Tapestry, which held the record for most weeks at No. 1 by a female artist for more than 20 years. Her record sales were estimated at more than 75 million copies worldwide. She has won four Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. She has been inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as a performer and songwriter. She is the recipient of the 2013 Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, the first woman to be so honored. She is also a 2015 Kennedy Center Honoree.

Or looks my way, or calls my name
That seems to leave this troubled world behind
If I'm feeling down and blue
Or troubled by some foolish game
She always seems to make me change my mind
And I feel fine anytime she's around me now
Almost all the time
And if I'm well you can tell she's been with me now
She's been with me now quite a long, long time
And I feel fine
Every now and then the things I lean on lose their meaning
And I find myself careening
In places where I should not let me go
She has the power to go where no one else can find me
Yes and silently remind me
The happiness and the good times that I know, but as I had got to know them
It isn't what she's got to say
But how she thinks and where she's been
To me, the words are nice, the way they sound
I like to hear them best that way
It doesn't much matter what they mean
What she says them mostly just to calm me down
And I feel fine anytime she's around me now
She's around me now
Almost all the time
If I'm well you can tell she's been with me now
She's been with me now quite a long, long time
Yes and I feel fine
Carole King’s song Something In The Way She Moves is a love song that focuses on the power of a woman’s presence. The song speaks of how the woman can make the world a better place by just being around. She has a way of changing the mood of the singer by bringing joy and happiness to him, even in the toughest of times. The way she moves or the way she looks at him or even calls his name has a healing power that can take away all the troubles of the world.
The song acknowledges the fact that sometimes life can be tough and things can lose their meaning. The singer finds himself lost in places where he shouldn't be, and he knows that he needs help to get back to where he belongs. The woman has the power to take him there, to find him even in the most difficult of times. Her presence is a reminder that happiness and good times still exist.
The lyrics also delve into the importance of communication in a relationship. The words the woman speaks don't matter as much as how she thinks and where she has been. The words themselves are nice to hear, but it's the sound that brings comfort and calm to the singer.
Overall, the song is a tribute to the power of love and companionship. It celebrates the way that one person can change your entire world and make everything seem bright and beautiful.
