Wie heisst'n Du?
Clueso Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
"Ey Du, wart mal!"
Clueso:
"Was?"
Weibliche Fans:
"Wie heißtn Du?"
Clueso:
"Clueso!"
Weibliche Fans:
"Na, weil wir das wissen wollen."
Clueso:
"Was ist denn mit denen los?"
The above lyrics are taken from Clueso's song "Wie heisst'n Du?" which roughly translates to "What's your name?" The song deals with the pressures and demands of fame, particularly with the constant attention and scrutiny from fans. Clueso, a German singer-songwriter, is approached by a group of female fans who ask for his name. Clueso is baffled by their question as they already know who he is. The conversation reveals the absurdity of the situation, where fans demand personal information that they already have access to through the media or the artist’s work. The song reflects on the difficulties that come with being a celebrity or a public figure, such as losing privacy and authenticity in relationships.
The lyrics also touch upon the tension between artist and audience, where fans may feel entitled to the private life of their idols. Clueso's reaction to the fans' question, "Was ist denn mit denen los?" (“What is wrong with them?”) signals his frustration with the situation. The chorus of the song repeats the question, "Wie heißtn Du?" which emphasizes the disconnect between the public persona and the private self of Clueso. The song can be interpreted as a commentary on celebrity culture and the superficiality of fame.
