N.S.U.
Cream Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Driving in my car, smoking my cigar,
The only time I'm happy's when I play my guitar.

Singing in my yacht, what a lot I got,
Happiness is something that just cannot be bought.

I've been in and I'm out, I've been up and down,
I don't want to go until I've been all around.

What's it all about, anyone in doubt,
I don't want to go until I've found it all out.

This whole album is so pure. Ultimate jamming.

Stream of consciousness /no beginning ,no end.

@TweedSuit

The key to it is Jack and Ginger. They had been jamming together since 1961 in a jazz/blues setting, often exploring free jazz. Clapton's playing exploded when he teamed up with them.

It's interesting. Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker really didn't get along. I believe it was a case of personality clash.
So, what you're hearing is a battle between Jack and Ginger!
The Rhythm Section is supposed to work together, but in Cream's case, especially during their improvisations, it was a battle!
You know, Ginger Baker formed "The Cream" and when Clapton was hired, Eric suggested Jack Bruce as Bass Player and Baker refused saying that he and Bruce didn't "get on" with each other.
Well, Eric, in a kind way, told Ginger that if he didn't hire Jack Bruce, he wasn't going to join!
The greatest Power Rock Trio of them all!

That's right. Clapton's two years with Jack and Ginger were the highlight of his career (and among the highlights of rock music in general). Clapton has always been a great guitar player, but he's had a tendency to phone it in when he's not playing with great musicians. Jack and Ginger challenged Clapton, and the result was incredible.

@anthonygerace8926

Yeah, that's fascinating. Jack and Ginger were among the greatest rock rhythm sections in history -- and they couldn't stand each other personally. Moon, Entwistle and Townshend also challenged each when playing live, but personally they apparently got along fine.

As a Bassist myself, having played in many bands, I always point to this song. There’s something these 3 guys have that you can’t teach. The way they come out of that long improv/solo. When Baker taps the symbles and Bruce pumps the bass. They just have this chemistry between them, they pull it out of the air! You can’t teach that!

@mglaser6811

Hey...you're absolutely right 💪...this is raw power...this three guys playing together are never to be reached...impecable...one of my favorits 💪

@josephtravers777

It's a modal jam dude. Free but modal.
