Cri-Cri is known as the "grillito cantor" or "the singing cricket". He is a character created by Francisco Gabilondo Soler in his childhood and may even be considered "his inner personality"
The character became so famous and gave its author such renown, that it became a second name for Gabilondo. In the mid part of the 20th century he became the most recognizable singer of children's songs in Spanish. Gabilondo's dedication to this segment of the population has been greatly admired, comparable to Walt Disney in his honest approach to making life fun for those who are getting started in life.
La Guacamaya

cerca del mar
en la famosa Huasteca.
Un periquín
se encaprichó
por una verde muñeca.
toda su fé
toda la puso en un ave
mas sucedió que ella
se fué sin escuchar su clamor.
Guacamaya lindo sol
tu perfil redondo
y tu plumaje multicolor.
Lejos de aquí
cerca del mar
en la famosa Huasteca.
Un periquín
se encaprichó
por una verde muñeca.
Ciego de amor
toda su fe
toda la puso en un ave
mas sucedió que ella
se fué sin escuchar su clamor.
Guacamaya donde estarás?
hay será en la playa?
será en el bosque?
o en dónde mas?.
The lyrics of Cri-Cri's song "La Guacamaya" tell the story of a parakeet who falls in love with a beautiful green doll-like object, which happens to be a guacamaya or macaw, a type of bird found in the famous Huasteca region near the sea. He is blinded by love and puts all of his faith into this bird, but unfortunately, she flies away without listening to his cries. The chorus describes the Guacamaya as a beautiful sun with a multicolored plumage and a round profile.
The song is a cautionary tale about being blinded by love and putting too much faith in someone or something. The parakeet's obsession with the guacamaya led him to believe that she would return his feelings, but in the end, she simply flew away, leaving him heartbroken.
The mention of the Huasteca region and the Guacamaya serves as a nod to Mexican culture and wildlife. The lyrics, while simple and repetitive, carry a powerful message that can be applied to life beyond just the realm of love.
