Cri-Cri is known as the "grillito cantor" or "the singing cricket". He is a character created by Francisco Gabilondo Soler in his childhood and may even be considered "his inner personality"
The character became so famous and gave its author such renown, that it became a second name for Gabilondo. In the mid part of the 20th century he became the most recognizable singer of children's songs in Spanish. Gabilondo's dedication to this segment of the population has been greatly admired, comparable to Walt Disney in his honest approach to making life fun for those who are getting started in life.

The song "Patita" by Cri-Cri tells the story of a mother duck who goes to the market with a basket and a shawl made of small balls. She is on a mission to buy everything on her shopping list. As she walks to the market, she waddles side to side, much like the swaying of ships in the high seas. She searches for change in her little purse to feed her ducklings when she returns home. She knows that they will all ask her what she bought for them, and she wants to make sure she has something to offer. The mother duck is frustrated by the high prices at the market and spends her day bartering instead of shopping. Her ducklings are growing up and need shoes, but her husband, a lazy duck, does not contribute to the family's well-being. The mother duck is left to provide for herself and her family. When her ducklings ask what she brought home, she can only reply with one thing, "Eat mosquitoes."
