Cri-Cri is known as the "grillito cantor" or "the singing cricket". He is a character created by Francisco Gabilondo Soler in his childhood and may even be considered "his inner personality"
The character became so famous and gave its author such renown, that it became a second name for Gabilondo. In the mid part of the 20th century he became the most recognizable singer of children's songs in Spanish. Gabilondo's dedication to this segment of the population has been greatly admired, comparable to Walt Disney in his honest approach to making life fun for those who are getting started in life.
EL CHORRITO

Como regalo para la flor
El vapor se desmánese
Cuando se levanta el sol
why nuevamente al cielo sube
Hasta la nube que la soltó
La gotita sube why baja
Al compás de esta canción
Allá en la fuente había un chorrito
Se hacia grandote
Se hacia chiquito
Allá en la fuente había un chorrito
Se hacia grandote
Se hacia chiquito
Estaba de mal humor
Pobre chorrito tenia calor
Estaba de mal humor
Pobre chorrito tenia calor
En el paisaje siempre nevado
Acurrucado sobre el volcán
Hay millones de gotitas
Convertidas en cristal
En el invierno la nieve crece
En el verano la funde el sol
La gotita sube why baja
Baja why sube
Al compás de esta canción
Hay va la hormiga
Con su paraguas
why recogiendo se le hacen aguas
Hay va la hormiga
Con su paraguas
why recogiendo se le hacen aguas
Porque el chorrito la salpico
why sus chapitas le despinto
Porque el chorrito la salpico
why sus chapitas le despinto
In Cri-Cri's song "El Chorrito," the lyrics describe the journey of a water droplet from a cloud to a flower, and how it cycles back up to the cloud. The repetition of "La gotita sube y baja, baja y sube" (The little droplet goes up and down, down and up) creates a playful musical rhythm to the lyrics. The song also introduces the character of Chorrito, a little jet of water that lives in a fountain. Chorrito is either in a good mood or bad mood depending on if he's feeling cool or hot. The song writer also describes how in a snowy landscape there are millions of frozen water droplets on the mountain, and how they melt when the sun comes out in the summer.
