Cri-Cri is known as the "grillito cantor" or "the singing cricket". He is a character created by Francisco Gabilondo Soler in his childhood and may even be considered "his inner personality"
The character became so famous and gave its author such renown, that it became a second name for Gabilondo. In the mid part of the 20th century he became the most recognizable singer of children's songs in Spanish. Gabilondo's dedication to this segment of the population has been greatly admired, comparable to Walt Disney in his honest approach to making life fun for those who are getting started in life.
Pollitos Jardineros
Cri-Cri Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
al jardín para regar
las macetas de las flores
que sembró mamá.
Una violeta muy pizpireta
hasta su tiesto los vio llegar
y con el hueco de sus alitas
Los pollitos jardineros
Al vergel dan más color
con sus plumas amarillas
de color de sol.
Esa ronda de pollitos
al correr vienen y van
entre rosas, entre lirios
o el tulipán.
La margarita no estaba limpia
pero trajeron agua y jabón,
en sus piquitos soplaron pompas
Hasta dejarla hecha un primor.
Esas flores bien cuidadas
con amor y con bondad
se columpian en sus tallos
de felicidad.
The song Pollitos Jardineros by Cri-Cri tells the story of a group of little chicks who venture into a garden to water the flower pots that their mom had sowed. The chicks are depicted as playful and lively, as they fill the garden with color and beauty through their actions. The lyrics describe how they stop on a particular violet, and using the hollows of their wings they give it spring water. The author personifies the flower, giving it a personality by describing it as “very pizpireta” or sprightly.
As the chicks continue their work, they make other beautiful flowers healthier and happier including roses, lilies, and tulips. They even go so far as to clean off a dirty daisy with soap and water, blowing bubbles from their beaks and making it look beautiful again. The song emphasizes the importance of loving and caring for others, even if they are tiny flowers or inanimate objects. At the end of the day, the happy flowers sway in the wind and express contentment for the love and kindness that the chicks have shown them.
In summary, the song Pollitos Jardineros tells a story of a group of little chicks and their acts of kindness and love toward some innocuous flowers in their mom's garden. The lyrics emphasize the importance of taking care of all living things, no matter how small, and how good deeds can bring joy and happiness to both the caretaker and those that receive their love.
