The beginning of Gaz Mawete's "Mwasi Ya Congo" is a repetition of various ad-libs that signify love, then the first verse focuses on a man reassuring his partner that he will be there for her through thick and thin. The man declares that he came to prevent her from suffering or going through pain, and begs her to trust him even in times when others might doubt or forsake her. The pre-chorus and chorus are a call to the Congo woman, telling her to let him ease her pains and that her heart and words will always be safe with him. Gaz Mawete beautifully employs the different dialects and languages of the region in the song.
The second verse of the song also focuses on reassuring the woman that the man will always be there for her. The man reminds the woman that she is his queen, and he will always appreciate her and treat her with the respect she deserves. The verse also addresses God and thanks Him for the woman and the joy and happiness she brings to the man’s life. The pre-chorus and chorus are again repeated, calling the woman to trust her man and let him ease her pains.
