After attending the Cristina Rota and William Layton drama schools, he teamed up with guitarist Iván Ganchegui in 1994 to form El Canto del Loco, who went through various lineup changes before releasing their 2000 self-titled debut album. The band went on to become one of Spain's biggest pop/rock acts, scoring four chart-topping albums, A Contracorriente (2002), Estados de Ánimo (2003), Zapatillas (2005), and Personas (2008), in a hugely successful six-year period.
However, Martín simultaneously continued to showcase his acting talents, appearing on both the big screen in gay-themed comedy I Love You Baby, Bigas Luna's comedy Yo Soy la Juani, and Pedro Almodóvar's Broken Embraces, plus the small screen in medical drama Hospital Central, cop show Four Countdown, and sitcom Los Hombres de Paco. After El Canto del Loco decided to take a hiatus in 2009, Martín began work on his debut solo record with producer Bori Alarcón, the result of which was 2010's Pequeño, a highly autobiographical and deeply personal record written in the wake of his sister's death. It was a formidable success, hitting number one in Spain and spending more than 18 months on the charts. Three years went into the making of his second solo album, Dani Martín, which spent four weeks at number one in Spain and also charted in Mexico and Italy. Tour dates consumed most of 2014, culminating in the release of his live album Mi Teatro in October 2014.

The song "Lo que nace se apaga" by Dani Martín speaks about the fleeting nature of life and the disappointment that comes with it. The opening lines describe a woman who was once a princess and loved but has since lost everything. The memories of her former glory are with her, representing the light that once shone within her. The singer walks through life alone, feeling the weight of solitude on her shoulders as she realizes that everything comes to an end. She contemplates leaving her life behind, and the people who used to admire her no longer pay attention to her. She feels as if she has become nothing, and the truth is, everything will eventually fade away, leaving nothing but the stark reality.
The chorus of the song repeats the lines: "Quedará la verdad, todo el resto se acaba / Y verás que lo que nace se apaga, / Que de ser todo eres nada, es la maldita verdad" (The truth will remain, everything else will end / You will see that what is born fades away, / That from being everything, you are nothing, it's the damn truth). This repetition indicates that the artist is highlighting the importance of the truth, as everything is temporary and fades away. The song speaks to the inevitability of life, that everything in this world is transitory, and we must accept that we are nothing in the grand scheme of things.
Overall, "Lo que nace se apaga" is a song about accepting the harsh reality of life. Everything will eventually fade away, and we must acknowledge it. The lyricist encourages the listener to embrace the truth and live life truthfully as everything else comes to an end.
