Thought you saw me, I was on my knees
I knew you heard me praying
Since the day I started to have faith in you
I wished to be closer, but where were you?
Our promises faded
Then I thought you left me
I dunno why I'm still trying to follow you
All I know is where my heart belongs
That's love to decide
I carry the cross that you've given
Wherever in the world that I live in
Even if my sins are unforgiven, hey
In the middle of my misery
At the peak of my loneliness
Thought I'd never see the light again
And I'd never feel loved again
You're the reason why I'm trying to breathe
Yet, I don't know what I'm doing here
No one wants to wake up to this pain
Ever again, ever again
Will I ever love again
Will I ever love again
Will I ever love again
I was so lost in the rain
I fell and fell so hard, was so blindly vain
At the point of no return
Then I saw a shadow of a man, tell me was it you?
Shed light upon my moment truth
Take me higher and higher
To the heaven I long to know
Every time I cry out of solitude
I dunno why I'm still trying to follow you
All I know is where my heart belongs
That's love to decide
I carry the cross that you've given
Wherever in the world that I live in
Even if my sins are unforgiven, hey
In the middle of my misery
At the peak of my loneliness
Thought I'd never see the light again
And I'd never feel loved again
You're the reason why I'm trying to breathe
Yet, I don't know what I'm doing here
No one wants to wake up to this pain
Ever again, ever again
Will I ever love again
Will I ever love again
Will I ever love again
Oh Lord, show me the way home
Dear my lord, show me the way home
Oh dear lord, show me the way home
Oh my dear lord, show me the way home
I'm praying for your legacy
I'm praying for your legacy
The lyrics of Dean Fujioka's song "Legacy" convey a sense of longing, questioning, and personal struggle. The singer of the song is reaching out to a higher power, expressing feelings of abandonment and confusion. They recall a time when they needed this higher power the most, feeling as though they were on their knees and praying desperately. However, the promises made and the faith they had in this entity seemed to fade, leaving them feeling as if they had been left behind.
Despite these feelings of solitude and the unanswered cries, the singer continues to follow and seek this higher power. They mention carrying the cross given to them, which symbolizes the burdens and challenges they face. No matter where they are in the world, they carry this weight and continue to seek redemption, even if their sins are seemingly unforgivable.
The middle section of the song explores the singer's state of misery and loneliness. They have lost all hope and feel as if they will never experience love or find light again. However, they credit this higher power as the reason they continue to push forward and attempt to breathe amidst the pain. Despite not knowing their purpose or reason for being in this situation, they emphasize the desire to never wake up to this pain ever again.
In the final section, the singer calls out to the Lord, pleading for guidance and a way home. They are praying for a legacy, which can be interpreted as a profound impact or a lasting memory. It can be inferred that they are asking for clarity, direction, and a sense of purpose in their life's journey. Overall, the lyrics of "Legacy" reflect a deep yearning for meaning, redemption, and love in the midst of personal struggle and uncertainty.
