They Say It's Wonderful
Dick Haymes Lyrics

It's wonderful, so they say
And, with a moon up above, it's wonderful
It's wonderful, so they tell me
I can't recall who said it
I know I never read it
And
The thing that's known as romance is wonderful, wonderful
In every way, so they say
To leave your house some morning
And, without any warning
You're stopping people, shouting that love is grand
And
To hold a girl in your arms is wonderful, wonderful
In every way
So they say
These lyrics to Dick Haymes's song, "They Say It's Wonderful” is a joyful and cheerful ode in praise of the beauty of love and its many wonders. The opening lines establish the tone and message of the song - that falling in love is a wonderful feeling. Haymes then continues by emphasizing how magical love is with the moon up above. The fact that the singer cannot recall who first said that falling in love is wonderful suggests that it may be a universal truth. Moreover, the singer implies that words are not enough to describe the beauty of love.
Haymes takes the idea of love's power further by noting how love can lead one to shout from the rooftops about its grandeur. Love will not let someone remain in their quiet and calm homely life but will make them venture out and share their feelings with others. The bridge section of the song asserts that holding a girl in your arms is wonderful in every way. The song ends with the refrain repeating the belief that love is indeed wonderful.
Overall, Haymes's lyrics in "They Say It's Wonderful" present a magical view of love. The idea that love is a universal truth, which is felt and experienced by everyone no matter who they are, is at the heart of this song. Love is not just a feeling but a force that propels one to share their emotions with others.
