Planet Earth
Duran Duran Lyrics

Only came outside to watch the nightfall with the rain
I heard you making patterns rhyme
Like some new romantic looking for the TV sound
You'll see I'm right some other time

Look now, look all around, there's no sign of life
Voices, another sound, can you hear me now?
This is planet earth you're looking at planet earth
Bop bop bop bop bop bop bop bop this is planet earth
My head is stuck on something precious, let me know
If you're coming down to land
Is there anybody out there trying to get through?
My eyes are so cloudy I can't see you

Look now, look all around
There's no sign of life
Voices, another sound
Can you hear me now?
This is planet earth, you're looking at planet earth
Bop bop bop bop bop bop bop bop this is planet earth

Look now, look all around
There's no sign of life
Voices, another sound
Can you hear me now?
This is planet earth, you're looking at planet earth
Bop bop bop bop bop bop bop bop this is planet earth
Bop bop bop bop bop bop bop bop calling planet earth
Bop bop bop bop bop bop bop bop looking at planet earth
Bop bop bop bop bop bop bop bop this is planet earth

As a black teen growing up in South Los Angeles I could not let my friends know that I was an admirer of Duran Duran. Also, how they inspired me to study the keyboards AND bass guitar.

I'm a 30 year old black American girl. I wasn't even born when Duran Duran came out. I only listen to songs below the 90s. Talk about odd ball. Lol.

GURL. You should've been my neighbor!!! My aunties and sisters were OBSESSED with duran duran and didn't give a F***. We always loved how black girls like us showed up in their music videos and concerts. It was like, YESSSS! :)

KEEP CALM and PLAY SOCCER IN YOUR PAJAMAS

Okay, I won't tell anybody.

Mahalos for sharing your experience with us. I too similar situations, however I didn't hide the music I loved, SKA, PUNK, New Wave, etc.... KROQ 106.7 - KXLU 88.9 - 91X 91.1- KCRW 89.9 - KNAC 105.5. These radio stations pretty much sung my life, while living in South Central LA 92 & Vermont 90044. So, that exposed me to 1580 KDAY - KJLH & KACE, etc... To top it off I became a Pro Surfer, LoL. MF's were tripping off my black ass... I'd like to talk story with you sometime if you want, I'm Joseph Beamon, my friends call me Joey 🌵🏄🎨🤙

John Taylor is a very underestimated bass player. His work on tracks like "Rio", "Girls on Film" and specially on this one is simply amazing. Try and pay attention. He should be on almost every "Best" list.

I met John and Simon when I was in London in the 90’s and the LeBons nanny was a friend of mine.....I also play bass, he’s a legend.
