Though seasons would eventually separate these blood brothers by miles, a strong bond remained. These two were rooted in the same soil, and the sound of that union resounded across state lines and through telephone wires. It was in 2005 that ELANI was born, a Greek word or name that means 'light'. Many contributed to the sound and direction that was 'ELANI' over the next 5 years, and the music was positively shaped and formed by these experiences and collaborations between these friends and fellow creatives.
There has never been one genre to pin to what the Brothers Miller have accomplished over these last six years, but it could be said that the songs spin a tale, weaving a story full of depth and discovery, soul, Spirit, and the scent of the seasons. Like many who have come before, The brothers Miller were born with the breathe of the centuries, and the rhythm of life itself. Every sound comes from the overflow of that reality.

ELANI Lyrics

Mimi na muziki, shilingi kwa ya pili
Tumetoka mbali
Tumetoka mbali, mimi na muziki
Watu wa baridi, waona wakirihi
Tamaa mimi sifi, ninajua mimi
Nitagunduliwa, kwa sanaa hii
Walimu wacha walimu wacha
Silali muacha walimu wacha
Chukua chukua chukua chukua chukua hatua Hali duni kila siku hivo hivo
Malenga hawakutunga mashairi walinena
Mapenzi siyo mali, usichoke kula ugali
Wooi wooi my dear usijali
Mwisho basi sisi sote tutajivinjari
Tutajivinjari tutajivinjari eeh
Na tukunywe chai
Bridge
Walimu wacha walimu wacha
Silali muacha walimu wacha
Chukua chukua chukua chukua chukua hatua Hivi punde, maisha yangu yatabadilika
Mi natarajia
Baada ya dhiki wajua ni faraja
Sikudhani Sikudhani Baada ya dhiki wajua ni faraja
Sikudhani Sikudhani
Bridge
Walimu wacha walimu wacha
Silali muacha walimu wacha
Chukua chukua chukua chukua chukua hatua
The lyrics of this song are about the struggles and challenges that come with pursuing a career in music. The singer talks about how far they have come in their journey with music, but also acknowledges that there are still those who look down on them for pursuing such a career. They also assert that they are not driven by materialism, but by a passion for their art. The bridge repeats the phrase "walimu wacha" which translates to "teachers, stop" in Swahili, potentially referencing societal expectations or pressure to conform to a conventional path. The chorus emphasizes the importance of taking steps and advancing despite difficult circumstances, encouraging perseverance.
The lyrics contain a message of pushing through adversity to achieve success and expresses the value of artistic expression. The song resonates with people who have encountered difficulties in their own pursuits but remain determined to continue moving forward. The use of Swahili makes the song significant to those who speak the language, as they can better understand the message being conveyed.
