In 2010, Earth First released "To The Night" and "Still Remains" as a 7" on Cloudberry Records. Castriota has composed and recorded cello arrangements for Home Covers, Help Stamp Out Loneliness, and Korallreven, and has been releasing music as Fimbria since 2014.

Good, it's nice to see people coming together in defense of something every other "good upstanding american citizen" cannot see to be of very much importance. I believe in humans and want to see the spirit of love come through us to make our highest good realized. I love them. I cannot join them now but if I'm still in the country when I can, I'll help. Breaking the law in defense of something greater, as long as you don't injure sentient beings, is commendable. They guy is right that it's a tool. The bigger your toolbox, the better -- the wisdom is knowing which tool or combo of them when & how. Advocates working in the mainstream NEED people further out than them who will kick the fulcrum that defines what normal is. It doesn't matter if the radicals are not seen as credible by policymakers -- the policymakers will then turn to the lobbyists to explain why the radicals are so pissed off that they'll put themselves at such risk to stop something. A good lobbyist will use that to get the point across better and position herself better as the trusted voice of reason that the policymaker can turn to, which the good lobbyist will then use to move the issue further along, all the while the radical is continuing to push the edges of the envelope -- this symbiosis can go on and on if well-managed and well-strategized.

Eight years late to this but hey, better late than never, right? The large metal spikes hammered into the trees end up breaking the sawmill when processing the wood. While this is a last resort, it has proven to be an effective way of deterring deforestation efforts and costing loggers a lot of time and money.

Neither do I, but destroying peoples livelihoods is not the way. Nor is regression to a pre-industrial state in anyway desirable by anyone with an iq above room temperature.
These people are in the massive minority anyway. They have no right to try an force their inane beliefs on anyone else. They want to live in a pre-industrial state? Go buy an island in the middle of fucking nowhere and live there then, leave the rest of sane humanity alone.

***** Even if there are more trees now than ever (I'm not aware of a specific study confirming or denying this), there is a clear difference between tree plantations and true forests. True forests have old growth mixed with younger generations of trees, in an ecosystem of various species of trees. Many "forests" these days are plantations of specifically the highest yielding species, which will generate the most MBF of timber (which is why you see so many rows of Douglas Fir in Oregon, for instance). It's not all about the number of trees in the ground.

This kind of decentralized, cellular and diffuse organizational structure has the potential for very effective action. Loose groupings or affiliations can be more resilient, less easy for the authorities to surveil and subvert and far harder to crush by superior technology and force. Going forward more ecological groups are going to need to begin taking action on this sort of basis if they are to have any realistic hope of slowing down the genocidal industrial machine.

Guess what? In the very long time it would take to monkey-wrench the system into change, they will have ended up throwing many-fold the resources at any given project than would have been originally necessary. This includes so much unreckoned extra fuel expenditure, as one glaring example. Every bureaucrat who has to drive back and forth to umpteen more meetings in offices to deal with the actions, on so many levels; the bureaucratic ramifications have such a ripple effect. That's why its foolish.

They aren't terrorist. A terrorist, by definition, commits "violent acts which are intended to create fear (terror)". I don't think a broken bulldozer terrifies people... It definitely impedes progress however. I admire their work, though a larger agreement between corporations and environmentalist has to be made for any large permanent change.

What many of these people forget is that they can use the system to their advantage. Want to save 1000 trees? Just buy land with 1000 trees, then nobody will cut it down and it's yours. It's what seems to be the modern solution to the Amazon deforestation.

I couldn't watch the video because it wouldn't load. However, whether or not these people know what they're doing, I'm not sure (couldn't watch the video). But I do know that just because someone cares about the Earth, or anything else, doesn't make them a drug user of any kind. Nor does it make them uneducated or idiotic. I, for one, am very environmentally conscious and as some might say an "extremist." But it doesn't make me uneducated, because I take the time to educate myself on a topic before I decide to like or dislike it. I am educated on industrial society, and it is because of the education that I know I have generally valid reasons to not want to be a part of it.

The regulators colluded in illegal logging, so the EF!ers had to do what they could to make sure the violation of the laws wouldn’t destroy watersheds. But you probably need an IQ above 90 to see that this is not a no logging ever position they took.
