The Earth's rotation is directly linked to the concept of time as we understand it on a daily scale. A full rotation of the Earth on its axis, which we perceive as the transition from day to night and back again, takes approximately 24 hours. This rotation defines our concept of a "day."
Moreover, the speed of Earth's rotation also impacts time measurement. The Earth rotates at a relatively constant speed, which allows us to divide time into consistent units: hours, minutes, and seconds.
Additionally, Earth's rotation is the basis for time zones. As the Earth rotates, different parts of the world experience daylight and darkness at different times, hence the need for various time zones.
Finally, discrepancies between our exact solar day (about 24 hours) and the time it takes for the Earth to rotate fully on its axis (approximately 23 hours, 56 minutes, and 4 seconds - known as a sidereal day) are corrected through the use of leap years and occasionally leap seconds to keep our calendar and clocks accurate.
So, the rotation of the Earth is fundamental to our understanding and measurement of time.

This is a great source and super simple to teach my 7 year old student. She asked me if there were 2 suns because when it was dawn where she lived, my time zone is still in the afternoon the previous day. I explained about the earth's rotation and she understood but having a visual aid will really solidify the concept. Thank you so much!

Maybe the student could teach you, as we are not spinning.
