After exploding onto the South Yorkshire scene, the band soon became famous for their long, marathon high-energy sets, and after a highly succesful first year, they were nominated for "The Soundaloud 2004 Best New Band Award", and even had their song, "Fire Alarm" covered at the awards ceremony by 'Tommy Binks & The Alcoholics'.

They produced their only commercial release at the end of that year, their debut album, RockRollDanceDestroy, which was on sale in HMV for a short period in 2005.

The band went on to headine the Devonshire Jam Festival in the centre of Sheffield in 2005, set highlights included cameo appearances from local rap group "noXcuse" and "Existend" guitarist, Stef Blackwood.

Shortly after, the band decided to draw a line in 2005 and start a short-lived new band, Painkiller Jane, with a new sound, completely new material, and an extra singer shortly afterwards.
The band have played several reunion gigs since, most notably reforming to perform at the Sheffield St Patrick's Day Guinness Tent in 2008.

Hello everyone, if you do plan on foraging some of our traditional plants, there’s a couple of rules to follow.

1. Only take what you need. Make sure to leave herbs in the area to continue growing, taking care to leave the root of the plant intact (a pair of scissors is always recommended).

2. Have a positive mindset while picking. It’s common advice to think of your intention for the medicine while you pick, but any positive thoughts are good.

3. Pay for your medicine. Most common way to “pay” is via dried tobacco leaves. I know certain elders say you can pay with other herbs or gun shells.

4. Be mindful of the area you are in. Try to reduce the amount of delicate plants you step on, try to leave the area in the exact same state.

It also helped a lot with the pain. We did go to urgent care because I don’t know how to stitch YET. I’m thinking of ordering a suture practice kit! Comfrey is a wonderful plant to grow to pay the spirits as it's lovely for plants. Also, putting extra seeds in proper areas of nature for birds or to grow.

I grew up using many herbal remedies. My paternal great-grandmother was Cherokee. She made sure that the knowledge was passed to her children. In turn, I learned from my grandfather. I have discovered that I have a difficult time finding many of the plants, since I now live about 800 miles from the area I was familiar with. I am convinced that many of the transplanted people underwent the same kind of confusion as they arrived at their new "home". This is a learnable skill, but it takes many years to master it. I don't claim to have mastered it. My only intent was to point out only one of the many hardships they endured due to greed and fear of the American Indians by the Caucasians.

That looks like mint in the picture. I have lots of it growing in my yard, it spreads everywhere. Also have lemon balm, lemongrass. Rosemary, parsley in my flower bed. My grandma was part Cherokee. My favorite tomatoes to grow every summer are heirloom Cherokee purple. Delicious! 😋🧑‍🌾

Something that my Half-Cherokee great grandma showed me was the use of gemson weed leaves for poultices. Gemson weed good be found growing in places that were rich in livestock manure.such as an old barnyard. It was a tall flat leaf’s plant that smelled of old urine. It has long yellow blossoms. Poultices could be made by taking the leaves of the plant and putting between a few layers of gauze and crushing them with the bottom of a pint fruit jar to get the juices flowing. The poultice was effective against blood poisoning acquired when an injury to (for instance) the bottom of the foot happened. If signs of infection were found, such as red lines tracing from the point of injury and following blood veins up the leg, a gemson weed poultice could be quickly.made and applied to the injury and the patient would need to lie down and rest. By the following day the red lines would be gone. A cheap and effective remedy.

Dandilion is wonderful: dried roots are good tea for the liver and gall bladder. Leaves make nice addition to salads. The flower buds can be lightly sauted to eat.

My uncle told me that she filled a large bucket of cold water and added peeled thinly sliced white potatoes to the very cold water and applied them to his face while he was lying down. The cold thinly sliced white potatoes turned blue which soothed his skin. She also used other herbal remedies for saving his skin and eyesight I do not believe she would like me to share. My late uncle was never scarred and did not lose his vision and only wore reading glasses for fine print. November is National Native American Heritage Month and I always honor her because of this MIRACLE through the grace of God.

Hi, Direct Trend, thank you for the video, I think it's important to know the medicinal properties of plants and the history of the Cherokee culture. I was wondering, do you know for sure that the girl in the photo in the beginning of the video is Cherokee? As a Cherokee, I am so grateful that this information is being kept alive and would hope its completely accurate, not misrepresenting any tribe, though it's easy to do since there were hundreds, all having different traditions and ways of life and very few records that have survived to this day. I ask because the girl looks more to me to be from a Western tribe instead of Cherokee. Just curious as to the origin of the photo. It may seem nick picky but the tribes have been so vastly misrepresented by the media that the people get an inaccurate idea of the true individuality of the tribes.

The question, whether herbs or pharmaceuticals work best, with less side effects. I used herbs one time. Worked fine. But so did an over the counter pharma product. From comments, herbs sound fantastic if you get the right dosage. There is a ton of info on diet. Not much on herbs.

Theres many videos of other plants and trees, and really i want to express that the more you can learn the better, this wisdom is being robbed of all modern people, its important i think to have people go back to nature, and leave the ways of modern man when it comes to medicine's, we're becoming toxic, and people never really understand that leaves, roots, barks, teas. Used on.or in the body is Effective and in some cases better results, i truly must study more of this, you never know when Here in Usa if everything should fall, then what? No one will know how to use nature to use as Meds...because pills took over...

Many minor health issues can be treated with such remedies but you do need to be careful because they work very well and you could accidentally overdose yourself and become quite ill. And herbal medicines interact with standard ones, so you doctor does need to know what herbs you are using.

This video would have been so much better had you taken the time to find pictures of the plants/ roots/flowers/etc. along with seasonal variations, habitat and such. This is a good start but no where near as valuable as it could have been.

I've just begun to understand and use herbs such as burdock root, Raseberry leaf, Bladderwrack (Wow bladderwrack has changed my energy levels as well as purification of the blood...There's more nutrients and magnesium in herbs then any foods we eat as well as vitamins. .Dandelion roots do so much for us, For sleep I use Valerian root...Works better then any meds drs give...You can pick them yourself or buy them very cheaply at health food store.. Oh and most everything you buy costs no more the 2-3 bucks some costs $1....With everything now being hybrids (foods) with not a drop of nutrition at least we can keep or regain our health with herbs...God gave us everything needed for good health..hope this helps.

Ps A friend gave me a book on herbs it was the best gift I've ever recieved..I had no energy hard to get out of bed I was tired all the time but once I started drinking tea out of herbs I jump out of bed and feel like a kid again..I truly hope that others feel the same surprise as I did...God bless you all...

I thought sumac was poisonous. I know my husband is allergic to it. And gets a very bad rash when he gets near it. Exspecially if it's blooming. It doesn't seem to bother me though.

This would have been more beneficial had the narration included photos of the plants discussed. A mistake all to often made even with photos of these plants is they are to narrowly focused. Many plants look alike, just showing leaves can get one in trouble. Show the whole plant/tree etc. as well as the surrounding area, then zoom in. Also what area, terrain, et al would be quite helpful and safer. Lastly; I know typing and having an automated voice come out the other end may be cost & time saving, still it is annoying regardless of how it's done. Still thank you for the information.

About the voice complaints; 1 of my elderly (94?? 96??) neighbors has a most commanding booming voice; I think he has the best voice here in this retirement community. He still walks without a cane or stroller & seems to be in excellent health; his voice should be used for videos like this. Any idea how much he could make recoding transcripts for videos?
