Blues Skies
Eddie Fisher Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Blue skies, smilin' at me
Nothin' but blues skies do I see

Bluebirds singin' a song
Nothin' but bluebirds all day long

All the days are hurryin' by
When you're in love, my how they fly
Blue days, all of them gone

Nothin' but blue skies from now on

I know that no one will believe me, but it wasn't Harold Rome that wrote this song, it was my grandmother, who was sixteen at the time. She wrote it for an RCA contest in the back of a magazine, and mailed it in, and never heard back, until she heard it on the radio. It was written for her beau, who was away in England, whom she eventually married. I am glad to see so many people have loved this song for so many years!

She should sue for the very considerable royalties, or her family. Highway robbery.

Thank you for that comment. My father loved that song, even more so after my mother passed away. He would sing to it and cry when it was on. When he was passing away in the nursing home, unconscious, he would almost wake up just a bit when we played this specific song...

God bless your grandmother. She is up there playing this song for my dad.

I love happy endings!

My mum, loves Eddie, always played in our home, I had such a great musical introduction in life, Eddie, Nat King Cole, Doris Day and oh so many more...❤

I play this song each night since I lost my wife a short while ago, it fills my heart and brings her back to me. RIP dearest Irene X❤️

Eddie told me he wasn't a big fan of the song because it was repetitious . I told him I made an exception because of the (Harold Rome) sad lyrics, and the bonus is Hugo Winterhalters Celli & Violins to top it all off. He did a remake but it can't beat this original. I usually play this one twice and sometimes a third time. on Facebook go to WISH YOU WERE HERE Eddie Fisher fan club site for more Eddie music. I knew him fairly well. (He live in our building) We were movie, music, boxing and fan's of men's fashion. I was old enough to talk about singers from the 40's on up. He sang at some of our Condo Christmas parties (2 of them) Those were the Good Old Day's.

Clearly the best male singer of the 1950s, thanks Eddie!

That was Sinatra and Elvis.

A person may not approve of Eddie's life choices, but I'll never criticize him for his talent as a singer. My God, like Frank Sinatra he was a dynamite entertainer. I just wish Eddie had not gotten tangled up with Elizabeth Taylor. That relationship permanently damaged a very lucrative career. But Eddie's talent is very much appreciated at MY house. RIP, Eddie.
